Well done to Randwick. It was a low skills game I thought but the Wicks showed high purpose. Have to feel sorry for Manly coach Phil Blake in that his guys didn't show up to play their best; however Blake would know better than most that it's the coach's job to see such a thing doesn't happen.
I was surprised to see Kepu scrummage Fairbrother off the park
Flabbergasted is more like it as Fairbrother probably hasn't been bested all year, and things didn't get any better when he limped off and Eddie A switched over to THP. I recall saying something similar last week also, after lauding Eddie earlier in the Shute Shield.
Deans will have watched that contest with some interest and will have a good gander next week also. So long as he stays on the left hand side of the front row it could signal a comeback of sorts for Kepu.
Much of what is now being said now, was said back then when the topic [about dastardly Sydney Uni] was active.
And was said last year and will be next year. To save time we should type out our comments on a word processor and cut and paste them the following year.
The main views cannot be reconciled:
- Uni offer too much to players that other clubs can't.
- It would be better for the comp to spread the good players around.
- Having Uni so strong is bad for rugby.
- Uni have a brilliant programme and deserve to attract players.
- You can't force players to go elsewhere.
- Having more Uni type clubs will be good for rugby.
Etc, etc - for every valid argument there is at least one valid counter.
So why do we bother? Why not?
Hardly anybody, especially if they are more than one page back.
... why does no province want Lala Lam? He and Jack were with the brumbies but have since been discarded. Jack to Waikato and Lala to nowhere.
Good point. Lala is the type of guy that should have been in the Brumbies stable for when Smith got hurt. Though he's not a lot older than Hooper or Colby F, he would have been a more appropriate replacement.
