No it's not and never should be an option, the main reason we are going well is due to our pack giving the backs go forward ball.
I hate this expression. It's so reductive and broad as to be virtually meaningless. Doesn't tell us anything.

Valid - it’s like cashing out with house money, investing it into a socially equitable future-focussed ETF, and achieving a 60% ROI over 7 years.
ha - Options are a bit gauche. Futures were ( and I emphasise the word were) too GPS,y

Good point. They may have Skelton and Wilson together yet and make it work. Lineout has been humming so far. But I reckon it’s pretty risky (as good as Wilson and Valetini have been).
I mean it wouldnt be my choice but maybe they rest Bobby V and bring him off the bench to keep his grand slam going by knocking out a Scotsman

I feel like they should try Skelton, Wilson & Valetini together to see if it works.

I feel like Skelton’s prowess as a lifter might help make Wilson & Valetini more threatening options and he is even an option himself for the odd throw.

I also think it’s safer to give up opposition ball in lineouts if you are very confident of your ability to destroy their driving maul.

I dunno - maybe I’m clutching at straws. But I’m happy to keep backing Joe’s calls. He’s made some good ones the last couple of weeks IMO.

I agree. I think we have to try it.

A couple of things that work in our favour:

1. We're playing more of a possession game and really aren't trying to kick for touch often (in which case we might want to make more selections around being able to steal lineout throws).
2. Faessler's throwing has been really good which makes it easier to win our own ball.

Schmidt revealed that Wilson would remain as a key member of Australia’s leadership group but would not guarantee him the captaincy for the tour which will see them take on England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland in November as former captains Skelton, Slipper, Ala'alatoa and Tate McDermott are also in contention to skipper the side.

There's probably also video of this quote pre-tour.
Yeah thats true, I do recall him saying that. However, although he wouldnt guarantee him the captaincy for the tour, he has decided to continue with him as captain for the tour... and based on the way he has made his selections since becoming coach I just cant see him changing it. Not putting my house on it...

You are all very convincing. I’m on board - in Joe we trust! In this scenario, I wonder who the other starting lock and bench lock will be? Frost to start, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) on bench? Someone is going to be desperately unlucky.

That's a despicable decision.
Yet again, the inconsistency is the biggest issue.

I'm by no means envious of officiating or disciplinary teams that have to make these verdicts regarding mitigation, etc., but there has to be a better way.
