School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Back to matters concerning the title of the thread.

I heard last night that St. Augustines have a fantastic swimmer in the 13s, who is their 1st swimmer to represent at National Schools level. Apparently he's being chased by Trinity and Knox with, you guessed it, a scholarship. (nothing to do with his swimming ability of course;))

Big swimming program at Trinity.
Quite a hike to Summer Hill though.
Does he actually have to attend lessons at Trinity?

Trinity are also in the rugby market with a couple of the boys from Waverley Prep A's crossing over next year on scholarship.

Look I've posted this before, but scholarships are still full on despite maximum heat last year. They have survived the onslaught, so they are here to stay. If you accept that, what changes if any should be made in the schoolboy competitions?

I was speaking to a GPS parent on the weekend and he put Scots 1sts this year in the same category at the New teams of 2012/13.

IS,
The Shamrocks (Woonona) have lost 5 to Sydney private schools alone, a mix of scholarship part scholarship. Our 3 state U15 reps, we were never going to be allowed to keep them, and 2 others. This is just from 1 Illawarra club. I don't know who the ones are that have gone to Beecroft and Dural I would be surprised if they were ours. Shamrocks tend to come home on the weekend if they can.

and so the vicious cycle continues - the ARU relies on the GPS and the GPS makes pretty damned sure there's not enough left outside it to make a go of it

add 2 or more boys from shoalhaven with more on the way up to board and replicate around other country areas and you have a decimated local comp and more league players in the rep sides than dedicated union boys. this also eventually affects the colts sides and thereafter the depth of the senior clubs.

What is the definition of a League boy?
IMO a "League Boy" is someone who plays League exclusively.
