Congratulations to JJ Fredericks on his promotion into management. I'm sure those many years hard graft as a Baggage Technician have been worth it. He's a talented up and coming baggage man, one to watch for the future.

It's important to note that he's made it on merit, and while some will no doubt claim this to be a quota appointment I have it on good authority that when it comes to taking green bags from a carosel and putting them on a trolley he is without peer.

Pieter DeVilliers said last month that the Boks were still improving, and with the appointment of Fredericks I believe they could have reached the pinnacle of rugby.

:lmao:
That was class Moses.

Nominations for South Africa's Players' Player of the Year award:

Fourie du Preez,
Morné Steyn,
Heinrich Brüssow,
Sarel Pretorius,
Stefan Terblanche

Last year's winner was Jean de Villiers (who also won the SARU Player of the year award).

Some great candidates there.

I think Sarel deserves to there - probably ahead of Stefan Terblanche.

But I would think the award is likely to go to one of the 3 nominated Boks.

I'd really like to see Pretorious go on the EOYT, but given PdV's predeliction for sticking with Januarie, and the fact that Ruan can cover 9, I'm not sure he's going to crack the nod just yet.

I'll be watching Dewaldt Duvenhage with hawk eyes in the Newlands semi against FdP. a Big challenge for the young man against the best 9 on the planet. He did well in the Ring S14 game earlier and hope he'll do the same tomorrow.

Dewaldt had a good S14 and Sarel havent got his change in the Cheetah jersey on this level.

Hell whatta a won by the Tin Ears, beating the Tjarks in a cliff hanger 23-21. Brussouw & Johnson was top class in this one. Johnson sure can pack his bags and packed down at hooker and was everywhere. JL Potgieter nail a try and a droppie to win this one for his team.

I am sure shaky like a young player waiting for the next semi. So the final will be either Newlands or Loftus!

Gutttttttttttttted. :'( :'( :'(

Well done Brutes, you'll win the CC now. Thought Schalk should have started, floored FdP with a huge tackle and gave Pakslae a bit of his own medicine.

Nearly would yhave eated the biggest piece of steak in town but have to settle now for a poofter pizza.

At least now I dont have cheer for a team that have Luke Watson as a captain.......always a silver lining.

Joe Pietersen was today streets better then Kirschner, Duvenhage had a bit final jitters but he played much better as the game went on. Blaauw surely have to be in the EYT and alll round I hope this experiense will benefit all our youngsters.

In the semi I thought WP lineout show their mettle and specially Bekker. He sure is the one in world rugby that give Matfield the most opposition when it come to lineouts. In the end WP steal 3 balls from the brutes and the Brutes only one.

If you compare the damaged Matfield and Bakkies cause to the All Blacks this year.

Feel for the Tjarks at the moment but a blessing for the Bokke that their players get a bit of a break now.

The Sharks/Springbok front row of Beast/Bismarck/Smit were complete shit. Pushed all over the park by aFree State pack doing what ever they wanted in the scrums. I am really worried about the November games with the Boks scrum so pathetic. Smit is not, and will never be a decent TH prop.

We have certainly established that. But what to do? Smit is a problem sure, btu the problem is that Beast rarely goes forward which makes it very hard for Smit. I will maintain that with a better scrummaging loosehead, Smit's job would be easier.

Western Province lineout lost them the game.
Yep Sereli jump at 4. ::)

Blue hope they pick Blaauw for the tour, he waisted every TH in the CC. Look like the Loeriesfonteiner WP Strauss may get his change.

Paarl, I know you don't like criticising refs but that scrum penalty award to the Blues by Lawrence towards the end of the match was utter bullshit.

Ja it started last week when Jonker did the same thing against the Lions. Granted when Blaauw first drop his hand on the ground before binding but when the stronger scrum get penalised , it just aint right.

Blaauw 100% looks the business. Holy shit he's a strong bastard. Gave the Bulls all hell at scrumtime. They did not get a single right shoulder.

He has to get a chance. Beast looks tired and beaten.

Does Snor have the balls to give him a go?

Trevor Allan (34)
that was a beautiful tackle. full control while still being completely brutal. need to see more of that instead of players lifting and spearing or shoulder charges.

good to see FdP get up with a smile and the wink from schalk.

Hope so Blue, hope so, if Blaauw keep on going the way he improve from a year back , he just have to be pick at some stage. Was hoping to see him going against Smit, but then he destroyed the Cheetah scrum in the same fashion this year.

Those Upingtonners are a tough lot.
