Yep Seb, I commented on here about Owens, and how good I thought he was, was I not meant to say it?

Thought Owens was average - breakdown was a mess (though it's been a mess all WC). Second ruled out try was extraordinarily harsh. Leading shoulder would have been a yellow in any other game this tournament.

My post wasn't directed at any individual, just a general observation of the other numerous posters negative criticisms of the ref performances, as well as comments on social media and other rugby outlets.

Aussies get called whinges when they lose, but then again we lose a lot. The truth is theirs supporters in every team that whinge when they lose.

Yep I realised that mate, I was being a bit tongue in cheek, but as any regular on here will know I get shit because I will not get into the refs. I couldn't agree with you more about people that blame refs!!

Mate although I appreciate your thoughts, there no need to feel sorry for us in anyway, we lost a game of rugby!! Look I know it's probably given a lot of people great delight that ABs lost, but any Kiwi worth his salt that sulks or is depressed because they lost to a very good team should hand in their badge as sports supporters, christ it sport , ABs win a lot more than any team I know , but there is no way they should or could win all the time.
And there will be a few posting here should maybe look at their so called sporting credentials ( and probably not just AB supporters)

NZ were lucky there was even a camera in that maul to pick up on the lose ball. 9 times out of 10 that would have been missed. Although technically the right call.

You could see a momentum swing after that call, but England didn't let up, I thought was most impressive.

Both tries were correctly ruled out. You have to give credit for the camera man and TMO for picking it up.

Yeah England have the backline but I can see the Boks playing a very very tight game, and their pack is about the only one that might out muscle England's.

Last night put some real perspective on Australia's loss to the poms. We asked way more questions than NZ.

But equally, god damn we should have beaten the Welsh and be playing South Africa tonight.

The english played better last night than they did against us, and this is consistemt with Jones' remarks about preparing for 2.5 years for the match. Theh probably didnt prepare for 2.5 hours for us.

Last night was a clinic. Defence aside, the pom attack was precision footy. The way that prop played pivot, the fluidity of the attack, the ball carrier support. It was out of this world. Makes the wobs look like a poor club side.

Nah, I think it's stupid. Why does the standard of refereeing suddenly change based on your location on the pitch? That would not be called in midfield. It's silly and inconsistent.

TMO should just be for dangerous play IMO.

There's a natural gap in proceedings immediately following a try, which means the flow of the match isn't disrupted by the ref having a look. In any event, the assistant refs can and do provide information all over the pitch which results in changed calls.

I'm pretty sure Owens saw the forward transfer on the screen, anyway.

I stand by my comments. Both those sides are obviously better than the wallabies in every facet of the game, and in some facets they are obviously a lot better. I think the english stepped up another level last nighr, which ought not surprise, given who they were playing.

A lot of those points came when Aus were chasing the game in the last 20 minutes.

You could easily argue the wallabies scrum, line-out, and attack at some periods in the game looked better then the AB's.

Although, I do agree, it's not a lot of credit given we were clearly dominated, but still... there is hope.

Our lineout performed better than the English lineout (not that it mattered).

Just had another look at the start of the second half.
Shortly after England had regathered the AB kick, they kicked upfield. One of their chasers was tackled solidly by Reid, coming quickly off his defensive line.
Missed by ref, touchie, and TMO. A definite penalty.
Seconds later Whitelock is penalised for shouldering Youngs. A little karma.
