There's a kind of nervous rhythm in this thread..and we've reached the bottom where we await news - well its not really news because i think we have a pretty fair inkling that there arent going to be any unforced changes to the Australian side - and in the meantime spin off on side tracks to kill the hours until we have something additional, as opposed to new, to debate.

Lets only take team sports into account. Pretty much every kid runs and swims.

This thread is so off topic.

I'd like to see Balsawood get another run but I can't seem to find anything on how his eye-socket is going. Anyone know anything?

This thread is so off topic.

It wouldn't be a good internet thread if we stuck to the topic... besides, the less we actually focus on the upcoming match the easier I sleep at night. It took me 3 days to get over the heart palpitations from watching us play the boks

considering its the 4th biggest football code, not sure how we sit in sport overall, but cricket has to be up there as well, at least 5th, probably 6th or 7th.

Not sure how participation is, but if attendance is any indication:
AFL - 1,660,000. 19.3%
Horse Racing - 1,015,000. 11.8%
Rugby League - 969,100. 11.2%
Motor Racing - 966,200. 11.2%
Soccer - 584,000. 6.8%
Cricket - 488,200. 5.7%
Rugby Union - 366,100. 4.2%

Places union 5th in ball sports, I imagine Cricket would be lower than Rugby now after the Reds last season.

Pre game ritual: Fairly simple - wear as much Gold as I can find. Sentimental is not important, quantity is important. Unseen Inner garments are not important, Outer garments of gold are important.
Rule 2 is plenty of beer.
Rule 3 is organise a good wingman or wingwoman to be with you.
Rule 4 is the Harry Potter magic hands waving at the TV (if away game) casting spells to jinx opposition kickers. Nearly always works. Jinx is more effective when the wingman does it as well. Jinx spell seems to work better for home matches when you are live within spell casting distance.

Wallabies by 3. Unconverted come from behind try to Digby in the 72nd minute to secure our slot in the Final.

A colleague at work was telling me there's speculation of Barnes at 10 and Cooper at 15. I thought he must have been joking until I saw the Beale news and now I'm kind of worried. To save me time reading through pointless pages of banter, can anyone shed light on this... Has Cooper ever played 15?

He defends and counter-attacks from there in basically every game he plays. He also went to fullback against Russia and South Africa when Barnes was on.

For mine, it kind of gave us the benefit of having dual-playmakers AND having a crash-ball center. I remember against Russia some of our best moves came from having Barnes at 1st receiver and then Cooper sweeping in at roughly the 13 position and setting up an outside/inside man. At that point the ball is away from the bulk of the defenders and is moving at pace so Cooper is able to create much more doubt in the opposition than when he is at 1st receiver.

When Beale came off against USA, Barnes went to #10 and Quade went to #15. Worked pretty well, but it was against a minnow, so it's not a great indication of how he'd go against the AB's. But he's basically played half of his game time there for both club and country in defense, and he's done a fine job there. I think he'll go well. At least, I hope he does.

On Beale...

With proper care he may still be right for the final, and with all due respect to the All Blacks, the final is what it's all about.

:lmao: Great line Groucho. The Wallabies do have a couple of big games coming up so best to err on the side of caution.

Haha, yeah. It's Mr. Doug and his red socks. Shame on you for thinking they were red budgie smugglers!

Time for a comment...Cyclopath was right, they are my "lucky red jocks" (not socks or budgies)! They worked with every Qld Reds game that I wore them in 2011, and for every Wobs match ditto. As mentioned previously, a 'brain snap' led to me wearing green jocks for the Ireland match! LRJs are freshly launded and waiting for Sunday's kick off. LRJs are very common in motor sport circles.
