Really suckerforred, does bundy do that much harm to your memory... 2008, 2005? Seeing as you are so terrible at remembering history, let me use this visual descriptor of the good old days....

And they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery so it all got taken away from them.

Sorting the wheat from the chaff actually... ;) It does provide some insight into how queenlanders view how to manage a state, by getting drunk :p

Reds win by one try.
Tahs got more bonus points.
Tahs had better for / against.
Reds let in more tries.

Without looking at the actual results, I guess that means the Tahs thrashed the bad teams more soundly?

My gut feeling was that the Reds would have more tries, would not have expected better BPs. The last two I would have picked, based on the two teams defensive structures.
Funny that two teams measuring up reasonably closely in some stats can be so far from each other in perception of style etc...

Sorry to bring it back, but the Reds reputation is more about intent in general. The tries scored stat is misleading like that. They actually kicked a lot more than than most of the other teams too, but never got tahd with that brush like the tahs did.

I like to put it down to the Quade factor... Basically the Reds just pulled shit out of their arses more often, which happened to make their games more entertaining as a reds fan, but left other teams going "I can't believe that just happened? WTF?"

Also, I just realised that pulling shit out of their arses may confuse some of our overseas readers... it's Australian slang for making stuff up on the go that somehow works

I believe that the saying is - More arse than class.

It seems to be that you guys (quade) try the miracle pass/play more often so it does occasionally come off and is spectacular. Unfortunately the only ones I can really remember from the tahs is Dunning's fucking drop goal and when Sam Norton-Knight tried a quick tap, chip and chase for the tryline and got bundle over the sideline when a kick would have won us the game... For your viewing pleasure

You know there's a fair amount of bullshit about QC (Quade Cooper)'s passes - MOST of them come off. Even the one people moan about which was intercepted was worth the risk - 30% chance of winning a game if it comes off Vs 0% chance of winning a game if he doesn't throw it... I'll take those odds.

ICWUDT Timmsy.

As for the picture above, I'm not sure James Horwill ever playes for the Tahs.

All this confusing talk about who scored how many and when and was it any good and then there's talk about pulling shit out of arses. I was looking around and I could not find a Tah version of the picture below.

Trust our banjo cousins to get it wrong way up. Has reading reached Queensland yet?

The papers are joining in, clearly the S15 champions will be clear favourites for this one and every game this season.

Reds ready for revenge after Tahs' trouncing

Georgina Robinson

February 2, 2012
THE Queensland Reds will look to exploit the absence of departed stars Luke Burgess and Kurtley Beale to avoid a repeat of their ''embarrassing'' early season loss to the Waratahs last year, Ewen McKenzie says.

The Reds went on to win eight matches in a row on their charge to the championship, but McKenzie still remembers the second-round 30-6 pumping at ANZ Stadium as a low point.

''We were very poor on that night, it was a bit embarrassing … we started to play our game towards the end but the Waratahs were good,'' McKenzie said from Brisbane yesterday.

''That was our worst performance of the year and we've got a chance now to go back and do something about it.''

The rivals meet again at Homebush in the first round of the tournament at the end of the month.
It will be the Reds' first serious outing without injured five-eighth Quade Cooper, and a test for the player chosen to fill his shoes.

But McKenzie said life without halfback Burgess, who is now playing for French club Stade Toulousain, and ''X-factor'' Beale, who defected to the Rebels, would also test the Waratahs.
''They've lost two key players we think - Burgess was an integral player for them in terms of touching the ball and physicality, and obviously Beale was a great X-factor for them in terms of creating opportunity.

''They're only two guys, I know that, but they certainly had a lot to do with their week-to-week performances.''

South African import Sarel Pretorius is the likely replacement for Burgess.
The former Cheetah was the tournament's equal top try scorer last year and, despite some questions asked of him in defence, Pretorius is expected to give his new club an injection of speed on the pitch.

''He's a very good attacking player, we're very interested to see how they use him,'' McKenzie said. ''He'll up-tempo the game and they'll be looking to get more attack out of him, but Luke Burgess … gave them a lot of value in terms of defence and starch, and that's why the Waratahs were one of the best defensive teams last year and a team that we've looked at closely for that reason.''
The arrival of Adam Ashley-Cooper would boost the Waratahs back line in Beale's absence, McKenzie said, adding the club should not be underestimated.
''They're very disciplined, they're physical, they're a big side and they've got some strike power [in] their back three - with Adam Ashley-Cooper coming in … [he will] contribute a lot with points and X-factor,'' he said.

I do like how Link has given away the bullshit "We're the underdogs" line everyone seems to use.

He's going to leave that to the other QLD team that plays the underdog tag every year even if they're completely dominating their opponent. It actually gets very lame after a while when its so obvious that your team isnt the outsider. I agree Link's approach is refreshing.

Getting to the top is hard but staying there when you've set the standard is even harder. If the Reds back it up again this year with the target they've now got on their back they will get my full respect (not gonna happen though Crusaders will take it out :D).

Reds v Tahs first game? Cant pick it. Slightly favouring the Reds.
