Still a bit intoxicated, but i don't understand how Bryce Lawerence keeps getting big matches. I know ref bashing is looked down upon and people see it as an excuse for their side losing, but seriously, Bryce you cost QLD today.

At least try watching the game before you pass comment.
The "suck it up" "sore losers" blah blah blah is equally nauseating and predictable.
There have been some valid complaints and some not so valid complaints about the standard of refereeing in this game but at least they came from an informed viewpoint.

The people living with me are more than knowledgeable on the game of Rugby, thus whilst I will watch the game again - I do trust their analysis as they follow all sorts of teams, including the Reds, but seem to be a lot less biased than in here.

I understand, your team lost, your not happy. Christ, I'll stick to updating my bit on club rugby than deal with this shit. Have fun. Be happy its my last post in here.

The Crusaders are my hate team. I detest how they cheat, yes cheat, with impunity and get away with it because they do it at pace and with purpose. Just like somebody going where they shouldn't in a secure area, walk with purpose and act like you belong and most of the time you will be unchallenged. Then get Mcaw, the master cheat himself, or Reid bleating to the refs regarding infringements and the penalties will flow. The Crusaders vaunted counter ruck is very often (not always) but more often than not, gained by players entering from the side and by the tackler blocking the opposition from joining, just look at the last penalty and see where the ruck starts and where it ends, if the Crusaders enetered and bound from behind the last feet why does the ruck move 45 degrees to the try line, maybe because Mcaw joined from the side to take out Samo? The Franks brothers are becoming the new Myth. Every scrum that we got a view of Owen Franks he had a hand down on the engagement and then drove in and up. Then add the fact that the Crusaders scrum (along with quite a few others in Super Rugby) play with 4 props. That is their falnkers move up and bind onto the opposition Prop. Why bother having assistant refs if these things are not going to be stopped.

I fully expect that Crusaders and Kiwi fans will attack me over this but hey the truth hurts. I haven't liked the Crusaders since Justin Marchall got away with swearing at Andre Watson, giving him the finger and having a generally girly hissy fit on the field and didn't even get a penalty awarded against him for it in a Super 12 Final a couple of years ago. Seems to be that some teams get refereed differently via their perceived strengths instead of what actually happens.

This game had all the makings of being a cracker but has ended up in farce simply because most unaligned observed would have cause to question the result no matter who won. It is a disgrace on SANZAR that Lawrence is still getting to ref given the number of games he has been involved in which end in this same controversy.

What is the definition of being precious?

Jeopardy is fun.

Hey guys, I don't think AS really meant to say "suck it up", but was pointing out that shitty calls happen all ways. We all bitch when they happen to our team, fair enough.
Don't turn on other posters.
Blame the powers that be that continue to endorse Bryce. Even the Kiwis don't get him most of the time!

I said mine with tongue in cheek, so no hard feelings. But you can understand the frustration when the ref takes your side out of the game, and pretty much ends your season. I think Reds fans are allowed to be pissed off, Tahs and Brumbies fans would do the same.

I don't say Force and Rebels fans because they lose even with a good ref :p

Btw what the hell was Shipperly thinking not passing!?

And to think that Matt Burke has him as his starting 14 in this morning's paper. I thought what is he on? The guy is a great straight runner but he has shown no other skills whatsoever. Give me the Brumbies wingers, all day, every day. Off topic but is Speight eligible for the Wobs?

I believe Speight will be eligible next year...

But if his development continues at the same rate he'll be even better next year!

Slim and Blue, I am always troubled by the seemingly logical argument that 'many bad ref errors but equally distributed to both teams' 'had no impact on the game'.

In fact, the impact can potentially be huge as what may have unfolded in play - had the penalty been correctly not awarded - may well have been dramatically different than what unfolded directly via the erroneous penalty. In fact, we can be almost certain that play would have unfolded differently, as the impact upon what happens after a penalty is significant in most cases. Though no one knows if the no-penalty play scenario would have favored Team A or B.

When there's lots of erroneous penalties and the game is otherwise close, the whole truth of the game and the known balance of the two teams' capabilities are both thrown into doubt.

Okay I'll rephrase. I don't think he was blowing to favor the McCheatsaders. HE was just horribly shot all round and one of his tricky bag "blow as I go" efforts resulted in a game changer.

Shipperly needs to work on his rugby smarts. Not waiting to see if the ball bounced to make 10m for the kickoff, and kicking the ball out and not going for the bonus point try a few games back are blunders he shouldn't be making at this level.

Surely you're kidding? I wouldn't even have 2 of them in a 22. They've all 80 min players and having them on the field at the same time at test level would be disastrous. Way to lose every lineout and lack go forward.
2 of them start and a backup if one is tired or injured. I dont think the line out would be an issue either, I dont think number one position in the lineout is used enough, we would also have both second rowers and possibly Higgers as an 8 to get lineout ball, so three definate positions plus the front of the lineout.
Gill seems to pickup more yards than you would expect, maybe not 10m at a time, but he gets a couple of metres a lot of the time.

And I thought Kiwis were precious (we are actually).

Don't complain about the ref', learn how to adapt and play the ref, or keep losing.
