Reds v Waratahs - Sat 15th Mar - Suncorp

This is bullshit. Weve been on the edge of broke and picked up some absolute flops from the Rebels.

I would argue having our best attacking player (who just put Penrith to the sword) swapped out for Suallii at the whims of the RA board has proven nothing but a disadvantage.
“Absolute flops”….5 out of 6 Wallabies.
Tupou, Kailea, Leota, Kellaway and Lancaster and a bright prospect in Talataina.

You picked up Talataina. He will be a problem for teams very soon! Stop complaining.

Sounds good in theory. Not so much in practice. Tupou and Leota in particular look pretty fucken average.

Agree on Talataina though he looks the goods.

Not complaining just objecting to the ‘every advantage’ line of reasoning.

The core of the Reds team, including the Wallabies captain, are clearly far better players with more experience together than anything the Tahs can put out.

Solid win by the Reds. Still plenty of room for improvement but very decent early season performance in front of a big crowd at home.

Set up with defence and a strong kicking game. I thought it was a really good sign that I don’t think Angus Bell made many post contact metres - even at test level Bell normally eats up the metres. Really good example of the standard of the defensive work.

Really happy to see Lynagh turn in another strong performance at 10.

Hopefully not too much damage on the injury front though. Fa’agase, Faessler and McReight must all have some level of doubt

Whilst McReight is unreplacable, these are at least positions the Reds have depth in.
Hopefully Wright is back, if not Brial and Bryant are good options, LHP the Reds are lucky with Gibbon, Blake and Hodgson in reserve and at hooker both Asiata and Nasser are handy replacements.

What the Reds cant handle is anymore centre or outside back injuries, Frankie Goldsbrough went off injured in the U20s match today as it is.

Uru was emence. great game.

gamble had a better game than normal. reds lucky not to be carded. gave away like 6 penalties in a row on their try line a couple of times.

Tim Ryan is finding it very hard this year. just can't get into the game. he has defended ok but doesn't get any space.

reds held bell at bay for much of the game which is not easy to do.

first 20 was very good. reds just too good and ran away with it.

I'd say for the first test it's

6 - Valetini
7 - McReight
8 - Wilson

Wilson probably won't play all 3 tests, so then I'd imagine it'd be:

6 - Uru
7 - McReight
8 - Valetini
Possible - but given he’s the Wallabies captain I reckon he’ll play all three.

Uru in a log jam of players to fill the 20 jersey. Gleeson has been pretty good this year, Champion de Crespigny very good too and Tom Hooper excellent. I love Uru but if Hooper keeps playing like he did last night he’ll be very hard to leave out.

Uru and hooper offer better lineout options than Gleeson. CDC hasn’t really done enough so far to move into the frame yet.
Such great depth across the back row!
