No coach would want any of his players to have a two week break going into a finals series. Surely he will start one or two who have had very little game time, Chapman and McCutcheon for example, and that big Fijian chappy with the impossible name, but we can expect to see all the big guns get some game time. I agree with Fats, but the other way around, I expect some of the guns to be on the bench, and get some time towards the back end of the match.

If it all goes to shite, well, that's good, they need to learn to fight their way back from adversity.

Why rest players, the tahs are on a roll and playing good rugby...
Keep up the momentum with the same guys, they will be rewarded with a week off in finals leading into a home game GF if they keep playing the same rugby and winning

I don't think anyone will be rested unless it's because of an injury concern..he may shuffle within the 23 to modify the amount of game time some players get though.

You obviously weren't watching (read: listening to) the Fox coverage on the weekend. Clarkey was all over the pronunciation! Didn't struggle at all!

Even if it took him four minutes to pronounce it every time. Must have had a phonetic cue card.

Reds players will be hoping to have their sisters in the crowd on Saturday - no motivation like true love.

I wouldn't be resting anyone if I was Cheika unless there were guys who were truly 50/50. You never flirt with your form and you carry the momentum into the finals. It's bloody hard to get and very easy to lose. Besides, they get the week off in the first round anyway.

The idea should be to charge out of the gate and build a lead early so you at least have the option of resting some guys late on if they look like they need it.

THE Waratahs confirmed they won’t rest players against Queensland but doubts over Israel Folau’s fitness emerged as the Tahs delayed naming a team due to lingering “bumps and bruises”.
Prop Paddy Ryan was the sole player confirmed as having been ruled out of the Reds’ clash due to a foot injury, but Folau was one of five others who sat out NSW training; along with Kane Douglas, Bernard Foley, Sekope Kepu and Alofa Alofa.
The onlookers were explained away as players being rested up after a physical clash against the Highlanders, but Folau had earlier ran a series of tests with physio staff away from the group — including zigzag running — that hinted at an injury issue.
“We are only at Tuesday, and with the (Highlanders) game being on Sunday, (we have) guys still with bangs and bumps that we’re not totally sure in terms of … being available,” NSW defence coach Nathan Grey said earlier in the day.
“To my knowledge Paddy is definitely out, but everybody else should be available.”
All players are expected to be right to train on Thursday, a NSW spokesman said.
Ryan will be replaced with 130kg rookie prop Mike Ala'alatoa, who’ll make his Waratahs debut off the bench.
Grey reconfirmed the comments of Tahs coach Michael Cheika on Sunday that no players would be rested for the Reds clash.

Fuck it, I'm tipping the Reds.

Queenslanders traditionally lift when casted as being 'down and out'.

I expect Kev Horwill to deliver a sensational, awe inspiring pre match serve to the fellow fourteen in crimson against the traditional rivals donning the sky blue.

BELIEVE. Reds by 4.

Resting is stupid.

Giving players with a few niggles a bit more recovery time. Not so stupid.

Finding the right balance between those two? Pretty hard.
