Ok so The Reds have not started off in the best of form but no matter what happens I can't change that but I can keep supporting them - through the ups and downs - as I have for decades.

Have to agree with what James Horwill said - the Stomers gave the Reds enough chances to win the match, but they did not take them through knocking on over the line, not throwing straight at crucial lineouts etc. In the key moments, the Reds came up short on Friday night.

I am afraid to say with 33 percent possession and conceding twice the amount of turn overs than the other team you are not going to win games often. The one who makes the least amount of mistakes normally ends on top. At 20 - 3 the Stormers replaced 2 of their star performers. The hooker and the lock which resulted to a Reds try. The Stormers relaxed a bit but I do not think the Reds ever did enough to win the game. The Reds never realistically threatened to grab the win. .

I dont think anyone was indicating that they'd stop supporting them. But I for one think we have a right as long serving fans to show that we are frustrated and disapointed in the teams performances this season.

It annoys me how many Reds fans take the "oh they did this well" or "relax guys they'll come good" approach. Bullshit, we are playing like crap and changes need to be made. There is nothing wrong with being critcal towards a side that many of us follow religiously.

I reckon the Reds have plenty more to give in this comp - I'm not prepared to give up on them yet...

They were good against the Tahs, Brumbies (unfortunately), Sharks (a great first 30 minutes, they really should have kicked on and won that game) and Stormers - all quality opposition.

Beating the Stormers was always going to be hard.

And the first half against the Bulls was pretty good too

Some more intensity from the forwards and consistency at '9' and '10' can get them back on track - I hope they can do it.

The Reds will not lose supporters on last night's performance, or at least they do not deserve to. The squad has been decimated by injuries, and to lose two backs in the first ten minutes would sink most teams.

They are making mistakes, but they are playing with guts and determination. Fair weather fans will come and go, but the solid core will stick, whilever the Reds play wholeheartedly.


Players like Cooper come along once in a generation, they were always going to struggle a bit without him, let alone Digby, Lance, and so on.

Not sure about "more than" but yeah, you can see the defensive structures still in place which expect him there.

AF's absence had zip to do with the obviously poor defense that let in both Stormers' tries (not to detract from their skill). This type of sleepy casualness in defense 5-15 metres out from our goal line has been occurring virtually all season. See Bulls, see Force away, see Tahs away.

I wouldn't say zip. If you've ever been to a game live where Ant is playing and heard him communicating and barking orders in defence, that's exactly what they're missing and what would wake up that "sleepy casualness in defense".

Last year watching the players off the ball it was obvious and the attack and defense structures were so well organised. You had Cooper marshaling and giving direction to the rest of the team in attack, and Fainga'a took the same role in defense. Watching the Reds this year that's the biggest thing that sticks out to me, they're still working together and trying to get things set, but nobody is stepping up as the leader and making these roles their own with Cooper and Ant out.

Maybe. But I'd ask for higher standards from Simmonds and Samo and our defensive coaches than to excuse really poor defensive sharpness and intensity on the grounds of AF's absence which we've had to plan around for many weeks...or appoint someone else to play something similar to AF's role.

One thing I don't like about the 2012 Reds is the kick chase. They advance like snails towards the ball and put no pressure on the opposition. They should be trying to turn a bad kick into a good one through a good chase. We have some of the fastest outside backs in the comp but we advance like slugs.

Fuck me that gave me the shit as well. I even dropped FUCK ME , KICK THE FUCKEN THING OUT OR CHACE.That didnt go down to well with the mob sitting around me. But I have had the same seats since the move to suncorp and every game there is someone different sitting there, only a few season ago there was know one. So I don't fell to bad as I try not to get my passion for the team out as much as I do sitting In front of the idiot box at home..

The last kick Chace cost us the 1 bonus point as it went fuck all distance with no one chacing. Then we forced a penalty close to the post.It should have gone out.

Time for Quirk to move up in the pecking order. Signing Samo for two years wasn't the smartest decision, should of been just a one year.

Interesting that we have Higgers as well as Horwill now commenting to the media re Reds' chronically soft 2012 defence near their line (from today's Courier Mail):

I think Saia is missed too, for all of the faults that he is accused of by posters on this forum, his tackle close to the previous ruck around the ankles allowed Robinson to try to pilfer that ball often. He would also allow our Hookers to only play 50-60 minutes instead of having to perform for 70 minutes each week. I think he would have added some starch when we were pressuring the Stormers close to their line in the second half.

That being said, his last game was close to the worst performance I have ever seen by a pro player, nothing went right!

He has a big head and thinks he can do what he likes without criticism. Surely the coach has told him he must stick to the game plan (no rediulous chip kicks, be at every ruck and maul - not some - ready to deliver)
If he has told him and he still does what he likes then drop him.
If he is prepared to be a team player then he should fix his pass.
Do they spend time alone improving their skills ???????
A session with the video would demonstrate all his technical proplems --- pick up ball, step back or to side, run before pass, etc., etc

For all we know, he may well be sticking to the game plan. With the uncertainty of the teamwork in the back line, caoches' instructions might well have been, " kick the shitters out of it"
