13700 crowd…

decent but yeah agree the 6:30pm Friday night kick off probably hindered families from attending with kids… walkup of those from work was fairly obvious

This is a pretty telling statistic, Reds made 207 tackles but only missed 13.......as is 3 yellow cards..

someone remind me, if the opposition doesn't contest and the line out isn't thrown straight, isn't it play-on under the new rules?
There was a Reds line out called back in first half for not straight(that's what I think it was) but Moana didn't jump

Yeah I couldn’t tell if it was just a stinger or not. It was limp like a stinger and he didn’t seem in to be in too much pain, but he was very clearly holding his wrist

I was very nervous about the result. Moana showed last week they won’t be pushovers and they’ll score some cracking tries so very happy to bank the 5 points.

Encouraging debut for De Lutiis. Scrum held up even with only 7. No mean feat for a rookie prop.

Lynagh’s kicking from hand and at goal another real positive.

And great impact from the bench. Having that sort of quality on the bench is a luxury the Reds haven’t had for a long time. Nice to see Thomas back himself to set up that last try.

A solid win to start the season for the Reds.

MP (Moana Pasifika) blew 2 or 3 tries in that first half. In saying that the Reds defense held strong and the constant pressure on the breakdown kept them out. They had a real dogged mentality in D inside their 22. Nice to see.

I was pretty worried after about 30 mins. MP (Moana Pasifika) had their tail up but Reds showed they could manage that lul, with 14 players, for an extended period of time. I thought Paisami was unlucky with that first yellow... then very lucky with the next incident. He needs to fix that technique or it'll be plenty of time in the naughty chair this season.

Backrow was great. What can you say. I thought all the piggies performed well.

Lynagh was good, great off the tee however he really needs to get another 10/20m off the boot in general play. Tough kid. Paisami carried with some intent but didn't get much penetration. Jock had some nice touches and a couple mistakes. Wingers were solid. Daugunu looks to have recovered his old form and looking big. Flook was quiet and seemed a bit frustrated at not being able to get into the game more. Tate was tate, everything we come to expect. I thought he captained well.

The bench came on and really delivered which is exciting to see. Keeps that pressure on the whole 80. Great to see no dip when the reserves hit the field.

I thought the scrum was solid, a couple of wobbles at the LO. Wilson has a huge motor on him, just keeps going and going. His soft hands were on display in this game.

I enjoy watching Smith play. He just loves it. I have randomly met him a couple times and seems to be a genuinely great bloke. Glad he got that pie after some good follow up work.

The support play is great, they've been building this for a couple of years. Reminds me of some of the Kiwi teams.

It'll be interesting to see what happens at 15 next week of Jock is out. HMP or Gordon.

Lots to build on but a solid first performance. Congrats to those getting their first Reds cap.

McReight is a freak.
