Well, I think he's been outstanding. I don't see why he shouldnt be in the team but I just get the feeling he is not the Robbie Deans type.

I agree. But it may be a moot point - depends how bad the dislocated elbow turns out to be. Wasn't a good injury for Inman. If Beau is out for similar time, he will have precious little time to state his case in any Tests for a RWC spot. And I agree that he should.

Thank god we have one victory where those dirty professional fouling Crusaders get what they have been dishing out for years at least from that victory over the Brumbies in Canberra in the freezing cold with snowflakes falling. sucked in. I know that is ungracious.

Aww poor Crusaders can feel hard done by can they? AWw poor Richie didn't like that final decision? We should feel sorry for the poor Crusaders? Well suck it up! Richie was cheating all day long and got his just desserts at the end, correct decision or not. Tough titties for letting the Reds play in your 22 in the final 2 minutes of the game.

The Reds showed great character, however, to stick to their guns for the whole 80mins. 2 trys to 1 - they thoroughly deserved the win. Greatest rugby team of all time.
Couple of contenders for the Phil Waugh award for most gracious post match speech in the annual Scarfies right there. ;)

I have re-watched the last ruck a few times and the penalty was correct and could have been given for a couple of offences. I for one am glad to see the Crusader penchant for the tackler to stand up on the wrong side of the ruck and "take the space" and prevent/slow the defnders getting to the ruck is finally getting attention. My other pet hate is the Crusaders stepping up to the ball and collapsing over it saying it is a counter ruck and in reality sealing off.

A very good win by the Reds, showed a great deal of heart/culture to keep going when they were out on their feet. It was obvious in the first half the Reds were nervous and their handling mistakes had them rattled. It showed in Cooper's place kicking also.

Two other things have impressed me as the season has gone on, the obvious work and results Cooper is showing in his defensive work in terms of application at the actual tackle and in work to be in position to defend. Second the basic skills execution even when under huge pressure does not drop away - clearly they spend huge amounts of time on basic skills and it shows and makes them a top class side. The second point is something all other sides in Oz could learn a big big lesson from.

I now understand why no one seems to take your posts seriously on this board Reddy.

Ha!

If they win the title this year they'll be half as good as the greatest Australian rugby team of all time...

Yeah, it was a great game, but it was marred because the decision was crucial and game deciding and ultimately wrong. I reckon Crusaders would have won with any other referee today. Pointless arguing, though. Both teams were pretty flakey at times

Sore loser, bet if roles were reversed, you'd post 'brilliant work again by NZ forwards, skillfully setting up the Reds into error at the breakdown'. I recoil at this basic lack of acceptance of a result, and 'we wos robbed by the ref' starts all over again, which frankly is a perennial blight on rugby. If QC (Quade Cooper) had kicked near his average %, there'd be no opportunity for poor sportsmanship on this site, the result would have been less fine, and this is a site which typically recognizes the enormous talent and skill of NZ rugby.

Nice one Reddy.

Like I said earlier, well done to the Reds and good for Cooper for nailing that final kick after some poor misses earlier in the game. Defence was positive. Robinson and Samo were very effective in throwing themselves into the collisions and securing ball and disrupting ours. Both were cynical at times, but I love that stuff because they were fearless (and got away with it) and backed themselves.

With the physicality of rugby these days, you have to have that element of fearlessness in ya at the breakdown. Samo spent alot of time on his knees and flopped to secure ball, but that sort of fearlessness if un-penalised is priceless for your team

One thing that will be giving Link a few sleepless nights is how to shore up the Reds Scrum, and even their lineout was under all sorts of pressure. I would suggest before the praise gets too efusive they have some serious issues in those two areas to deal with.

I was particularly concerned that even with 4 genuine options at the Lineout they were unable to effectively pressure the Crusaders ball and were truned over on their own way too easily. Part of the issue was a case of very bad miss timing between jumper/lifters and S. Fainga'a. A lot of work needs to be done here as with Thorn at the front and Jack/R? at 4 the Crusaders were able to disrupt most Red ball.

fantastic day for australia rugby. When Queensland rugby is strong, Australian rugby is strong.

Reds very lucky

Fantastic, gripping game of footy. I really enjoyed that, even as a supporter of neither team (though definitely leaning towards the Reds obviously). I do think the Cru had the rough end of the pineapple from Dickinson pretty much all night, though were a little lucky not to have somebody binned with the breakdown infringements. I was baffled by two penalty decisions in particular:

1, The pen to the Cru at the scrum.
2, The winning pen to the Reds at the end of the game.

What the hell were either of them for? Dickinson was absolutely terrible and hopefully won't be reffing a final.

If Quade kicked them all. If Carter licked another. What "if" the Crusaders scored one or two of the tries they absolutely butchered? "What ifs" play both ways. Good win by the Reds, but fans of either side claiming they had clear superiority are kidding themselves. There was bugger all in that contest, which makes any reffing questions worse, I guess.

I can't see the issue with the last penalty. Richie was pushing his luck all day and Stu was onto him. He could have taken the space and they would have won the game.

In saying that either team could have won but I'm happy the Reds did. Reds will play in the finals now and I just hope they get a home semi.

The pain that the Reds have given me in the past is starting to ease.

Yea the scrum penalty was equally questionable. I thought the ball was out of the scrum a few times, before he eventually blew a penalty on the 4th scrum.

The last penalty was for hands in the ruck. Stu didn't think Richie was entitled to the ball. It's a pointless debate though, could have gone either way. Just like the scrum call for the saders.

Richie got what he deserved after he made 5 offside infringements, another reason why the All Blacks wont win the WCR..

And Sonny Bill went off in the 1st half for a Blood bin, apparently he got his period... Hope Robbie was watching and learnt something tonight..

Scrum penalty - Daley dropped the bind then scrummed in and under Frank.
Ruck penalty - could have been for multiple offences, Crusader not rolling away, second tackler stepping past the ball and collapsing to seal off, McCaw coming from the side. It was however given for hands in the ruck by MCCaw who said their was no ruck because the Crusaders had collapsed it.
