Cant understand why some dont want to go watch the game, go buy those tickets and support the Reds, they'r going to need every support they can get. This will be a massive game.

PB, I don't live in Brisbane. I would go to every game even if we were dead last if I did. Where I live in Darwin is 3500 km away. You should be able to hear me shouting at the TV from Cape Town though. :thumb

Paarl you may want to consult your Atlas. You will realise that these guys live further from Brisbane than Hoedspruit is from Cape Town. You seriously have to love your rugby to travel....(although if I were a Reads fan after years of pain I would be inclined to look for a decently priced air ticket and go for it).

Off to see the Reds play the Brumbies in Canberra Blue. It has become my yearly pilgramige.
Boet pardon me for going a bit off thread, surely Darwin is the place where you can eat a kg crocodile steaks and have a lot of Sheilas around?

How far is Darwin from Canberra? Hope its not you lot Scotty calls rednecks?

Perhaps I am being one eyed, but I don't think the Reds will be overawed at all for this game.

The Bulls are obviously going to try to stampede the Reds because they saw how effective the Sharks were at it.
However Link is a wily ol cogger when it comes to tight 5 play and he will have our blokes primed for the tight stuff.
Like LG said - if Braid can scavenge well, and to borrow an afl term 'crumb' the ball at the feet of the giants their backrow selection could play into our hands.

Turnover ball is where we have the potential to do alot of damage, however not through kicking but rather keeping the ball in hand.

On a dry fast suncorp pitch I believe the Reds take the points in backs and their should be room outwide to capatalise on.

The Bulls will obviously be favourites for this one and rightly so, but don't rule out the young Reds who if they win this weekend will the Australian team most likely to make the 4.

Getting fired up for the game. Have to go down the coast for a 30th so the iPhone will be getting a workout. Really wish I could go to the game.

As for getting a bigger crowd than the Broncos, I doubt it as all the Broncos fans will want to see them win their last game for the year.

Marto on The Rugby Club was at the Bulls training this week, and said the Morne was pretending to be Quade, putting on the dancing feet and was just playing against a group of defenders. This of course could have been for the cameras. Nevertheless, the point he was making is that the Bulls appear to be worried about how they are going to shut down Cooper - as well as Genia and Digby.

If they put all their attention on Quade, this is going to free up Digby, Chambers, Hynes, Genia, Davies...Hopefully haha

I saw that and it sounded like a complete load of shit.

Really, does he honestly think they would be that fucking stupid. Sometimes Marto should not speak. He said they did it for an hour. Wowo. One hour out of a week of training and suddently that's all they will focus on.

If you read the SA papers and blogs you will actually see what they are primarily focussing on and one of those is fixing the ongoing defensive problem out wide.

Any team who goes into the Reds game without focus on those three is braindead.

I am sure the Reds were spending a whole hour setting up second phases defensive patterns to shut down the big ball carriers. Whoopee fucking doo.

So your basically saying that the Bulls are superior to not only the Reds, but all Australians? Typical one-eyed Bulls supporter.

I don't think so.

He is saying both the Bulls and Reds coaches know how to play footy and will not declare one player or group of players an out-and-out focus of the game. They will however train how to stop particular players as they see fit.

Reds V Bulls will be an interesting game. Very much a Red's Backs V Bull's Forwards game I'd say. Obviously neither team has shocking backs or forwards but I think they know where their strengths lie.

EDIT: Yes, Steyn is an amazing kicker but his prowess is an extension of his forwards ability to gain possession and position.

Do we know who the ref is yet?

A quick google search comes up with Craig Joubert. So that's a good thing I would say, but also bad. Very strict on the break down infringements. The Reds have had him a few times this year, so we should be used to his type of reffing style.

This is going to mean discipline come ruck time, or the Bulls will kick us out of the game. It's a two way street for both the Reds and the Bulls. I don't think the crowd will be anywhere near the Broncos one, a shame QRU didn't chuck a few Tv ads on, I'm sure a few people will be keen. Broncos will always get more then the Reds.

Boet do you honestly think the Bulls coaches isnt truely professional? Trust me, SlapTjips (Pieter Rossouw) , the Bulls backline coach is one that is known for detail. In fact Alan Solomons the Stormers coach used Slappes as his stats ghoeroe in his playing days. Think, Blou & all the Brutes supporters ,will back me if I say SlapTjips is the reason for that backline functioning so well (changing them from 10 to 15 men rugby)and I'll put him up as probably the best at the moment in SA.

Reddy, how the hell did you come to that conclusion? ::)

I don't think the Bulls need to change much. They'll stick to the game plan that has allowed them to beat better sides than the Reds.

Good to see Morne and Co have a sense of humour. :lmao:

In saying all that, I hope the Reds tear the Bulls a new one and that Reddy shows some humility.

Another SA ref for a Bulls match? If they're going to go with non-neutral refs shouldn't they spread the non-neutrality around a bit? :nta:

Darwin to Canberra - a bloody long way. Flight must take 3-4 hours.

Rednecks - can be found anywhere, but there are a lot in Gympie (north of Brisbane)

PB, Darwin to Canberra is about a 5 hour flight. No more rednecks here than anywhere else in Australia. You can't use the term "red necks" as it upsets our sooky Prime Minister as Robin Williams found out. I think the politically correct term is now "English good old boys" :lmao:. Darwin is not a big city compaired to Brisbane or Sydney and the lifestyle is a lot more casual and rural in comparison. It is one of those places where you tend to either love it or hate it. I have never seen a kg Crocodile steak in Darwin. The Sheilas up here are not that flash. In comparrison to those saffer cheer leaders that is. :lmao: Darwin people can out drink anybody in Australia so that helps make the sheilas look more good looking. :lmao:

Back to the Rugby

I don't think Marto knows his arse from a hole in the ground so I would take anything he says with a grain of salt. If I was the Bulls I would be targeting Cooper. This will go a long way to shutting the entire Reds backline down. Mind you, if it don't work watch out. If the Reds maintain parity in the forwards for the first 60 I think our mobility could dominate towards the back of the game. I would like to see the Reds focus on their own game and just handle the Bulls like they would any other team. The closest team the Bulls have played to the Reds are the Blues and they got done. The Blues have proven to be nowhere as consistant as the Reds this season and it is fair to say that the Reds pose the greatest challange for the Bulls to date this year.

I have nothing but respect for the Bulls but I think the Reds are up to this. GO THE MIGHTY REDS :yay :thumb

Don't be a tosser. Read my post again. All I am saying is that it is naive to suggest that any coach will be dumb enough to focus on one little thing. Marto was suggesting that the Bulls are focussing on one thing becuase he saw them doing it for an hour. That's just plucking shit from the air.

How you got to your me claiming superiority is complete-and-fucking-totally beoyond me. Don't be so paranoid.
