I thought we came to the consensus that Genia and QC (Quade Cooper) are certainties. We are now looking at the other positions.

Why are other inadequate, non-Reds players being mentioned in this thread?

Seeing Quades and Genia's passing game at the ground is just amazing, the TV doesn't pick up every angle, and to see how long and crisp the pass is from side on is some damn good viewing.

Agreed, was at Twickers in November and couldn't believe how well Genia and Cooper were passing. TV doesn't do it justice.

That was a pretty epic game. Well done Reds.

Matt Giteau - the door is that way. I'd take Cooper and Fainga'a over you on either 10 or 12.

A. Fainga'a is a supreme defender and hard straight runner. He is like Tom Carter but he can... actually, no, I won't go there.

He actually has the game for test match rugby and is a genuine 12 with a physical presence. But what goes against him is his experience (lack of) and he might not be someone Deans wants.

But what I love about him is how he DOESN'T kick!

Except when he put Ioane through for a try vs Crusaders, which was a good instance of foresight.

Don't make me pull out the Tom Carter scale!

Well we are just home from the Reds game and I am still on a high! What a fantastic game of rugby. I thought my heart would explode it was beating so fast. My voice is hoarse from screaming my head off.

The Reds back are sensational. They are so confident and the way they feed off each other is uncanny. You'd think they had played together for years. The Defence was huge! Words cannot express the roar that came out of the crowd when one of the Bulls heavies was cut down. They are aiming for the upper thigh with speed and power and just hammering the opposition.

ONE of the aspects I liked about this performance was how the defense lifted later in the game. There was a period there late where it was big hit after big hit.

Some are suggesting Chambers is a Wallaby next year or towards the end of the year. I tell you what, with every game he is showing me that he may just be our best option. And that's from a disbeliever at the start of the year.

I'd like to see Hardman and Byrnes starting this game. We need to have as strong a set piece as possible. I think Fa'ainga lets us down a bit in this area. We are also going to need our loose forwards to have a blinder.

Hmm. Not sure of this. Saia has his faults but he is doing the job pretty well so far.

I think I'd rather see him start and use Hardman as an impact player around the 50-60 minute mark (or if Saia loses the plot, whichever comes first!).

Agree about Byrnes though....

Quoting myself here, which is a bit rich, but still...

Please let me go on record and say that Saia and his fellow front rowers pulled a massive game out of the bag. An amazing performace and I just fucking LOVED the musketeer salute the three of them made on the final demolition of the Bulls pack.

The Foxsports lads kept mentioning that there were no Wallaby jumpers in the Reds tight 5.

Please let me say that this is going to change very fucking quickly in 2010...

Chambers been a wallaby is still premature, he is on the right path, but he is been made to look good by the players around him

yep, and there's every chance he'll be surrounded by those same good players in the Wallaby jersey.

If it were just that about him, I'd be less impressed by him.

What impresses me is the little things about his game. Watch how many kick chases he does and how much pressure he puts on the ball reciever. He tackles ferociously and has effected some individual turnovers off his own bat, like he did over at the sideline today. He's not afraid to get stuck in at the breakdown and he handles contact like he's been playing Rugby for years (which is probably his schoolboy memories).

Simply put, he works hard. I'd say both on improving his game and during the game. That is why I've been so impressed with him over the past few weeks. He's pulled off some great runs and offloads as well, but its the other stuff in his game which is so impressive. For what its worth, I say put him in the extended squad and let him learn the game at that level. He'll be a substantially better investment that Tahu ever could have been - and he was in the squad last year.

dont get me wrong, i have been incredibly impressed by Chambers, i just think that any talk of him in a Wallaby jersey is still a little premature

Just back from the game and oh what a game!
Its hard to believe the difference between watching a Brumbies / Tahs game at the moment and the Reds. It's like a different sport...

IMO Chambers was a total liability only a few games ago so Wallaby talk is way premature. Having said that he's far from a liability now and playing pretty well. I noticed early in the game he went hard himself instead of utilising his wings who had more space but he's been pretty good otherwise.

Anyone else enjoying the Faingga brothers play atm? When the Reds swapped Moore for them I thought they were mad and they didn't do much to repay the faith last year, but this year they're both on fire. Saia's, Polota-nau style big hits and some of Anthonys handling is as slick as I've seen. Future stars for sure it seems. Would like to see Anthony apply more discipline at breakdowns though.

My wife asked me when we got home if I think Genia is the next Gregan. I just can't believe how good Genia is when you consider how young / inexperienced his is. How good can this guy get? He's just unbelievable. I can't wait to see him in a Wallaby jumper again.

That was a bit of a ramble but as I said I'm on a rugby high

One last comment, what was up with Higgy outpacing the Bulls centres? I saw in the replay (at home) that he was half a meter offside but seriously... he should've been done for pace by a long way. Incredible stuff. No idea what links feeding these boys but I hope he passes on the secret to RobbieD.

Nothing wrong having a ramble when you've been on a rugby high mate.

Disagree on the Higginbotham offside. I thought he was OK in the shot just after the ball was kicked and working out where he would have been when it was.

The Bulls midfielders are not that quick but it was still a marvellous effort to get there to score the try. Unbelievable really.

Have written about the Reds on the other thread.

Campese has been harping on and on for years that Oz teams, including the Wallabies, should be playing like the Reds are now and we have smiled and thought of him as a Don Quixote tilting at windmills.

Now he will be saying: "I told you so."

Totally stoked at the result. Had to stop watching about 55m in but when I found out the result I was just estatic. Repaying the faith. GO THE REDS!

Great game. I loved it.

Genia just edged the scrum half battle, but Du Preez was pretty impressive too.

They played with great daring, passion, guts, skill. Keep it coming boys!

Genia, Cooper, Ioane and Hynes must be certainties for the Wallabies, with A.Fainga a chance depending on the form of Giteau and Barnes.

The Bulls played a big part in making the game so exciting - they were in it right til the end (and will be there when the top 4 are decided).

Maybe as reserves in non tri nations matches, or in the tri nations due to multiple injuries, but none of them are playing better than the first choice incumbants.

At the moment Higginbotham is probably the closest to breaking into the Wallabies, due to the Palu injury.

Individually they are all good players with plenty of potential, but collectively they are even better - a real testament to the whole way the Reds are doing things this season.

Great win for the Reds could have won by more but well done the Bulls like all saffa teams they scramble well after a linebreak.

Not the 4 try bonus point win that Naza predicted but a wins a win.
