^ nope. As I said yesterday Speight is on the decline, we have young guns on the incline who are worth persevering with. Speight was very, very ordinary this year.

LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) doesn't do enough hard yakka I'm afraid.

Besides the height and weight way

Wow.

Imagine being this involved as a fully grown man, about the size of other men.

He’s 186 & 97kgs.

That 6”3.

I suppose you need to be Tuialagi to be a big back these days.

Don’t be fooled by these stats, Henry Speight is not 6’3” and 97kg. Maybe if measured by his Afro and carrying a 5kg plate.

I’m not saying he has to be Tuialagi, I’m just objecting to your claim he fills the role of a big bodied back. He doesn’t and won’t.

I’m sure Henry will be fine guys.

I saw a really big kid at Nudgee, let’s sign him up & play Samu ball again.

You can't coach speed which neither of those wingers you posted have. With CFS' dodgy hammys, Petaia's ankle robbing him of speed, you've probably picked a backline that will never be able to make a break and shut the gate.

I don't get the fascination with size these days. Quoted figures are never going to be accurate, they are both subject to fluctuations and exaggeration. Some small players hit/carry/tackle/jump/whatever bigger than their "size" and some big players just never make an impact. A player is a "big" player if they play big in my books. Henry fits that bill for mine - others will disagree. The point I'm trying to make is, when we quote heights and weights, the discussion dies.

I wouldn’t say it’s a fascination to point out that the outside back stocks of the Reds are looking are looking a little on the light side in stature. Speed and footwork has its place just as much as size and height in the backlin, especially with the style of rugby the Reds have played under Thorn.

If Mark Nawaqanitawase wasn’t signed by the Tahs, he would be a good recruit in this space IMO

I think the style needs to change though, game plan adaptability is essential to success.

The 2019 game plan of giving it to Samu was great, because he was great at executing it. But when he was nullified, we didn't have a plan B or C. And we didn't make the finals. It was great watching us smash it up the middle, but I actually feel our best game was against the Brumbies at Suncorp, where we countered so effectively and used a bit more width.

I think the players in the squad for 2020 in terms of their development from this year give us so much more adaptability. Would obviously still love to have Samu around but without his presence it gives us the opportunity to play a few more options.

Not sure I'd say great.

Completely agree about the Brumbies game though. Was their best game for a long time.

Size is important at pos 12 & 15.

12 because that’s where the tackle busting runs come with forward momentum. 15 because you need someone to be able to contest the high balls.

They look like they have a bit of toe to me.
