Reds 2020

TSR

Andrew Slack (58)
If he is not capable of starting then he should not be in the squad. The only players who should be in a squad who are not up to starting should be a developing player. CFS has had his development and come up short on expectations.

For me a bench player needs the skills to start or else we are basically giving up when an injury occurs or the starters fatigue.
What happens when we get 3-4 injuries like we did this year? Plus what happens in the last 20 when you need some impact off the bench. I don’t really get your logic at all here. If one of the up and comers proves better than CFS he will drop out of the 23.

Reds need some big bodied outside backs. Campbell, Hardy & Daugunu all have speed and footwork, but having some big boppers that can rung the tight channels helps the forwards. Adding JOC (James O'Connor) to the mix doesn't help either.

Speight, CFS and Petaia fit that demand though.

The biggest concern would have been his recurring Achilles problems , rather than his rugby ability.

He might need a season to prove it isn’t going to be an ongoing issue.

CFS and Petaia are both 13 and unlikely to be playing in the same starting lineup together IMO. And whilst Speight is bigger than those other players, I wouldn't really consider him a big bodied player.

with some of those proposed starting line-ups that people have listed, you might end up with only Petaia tipping the scales above the 95kg mark, the rest are under.

Reds need a Cory Oates/Chris Latham big bodied equivalent in the back 3 for the height and size to get over the gain line.

CFS can't be 12. He can barely be 13.

He'll be a good bench player.

15 Lucas
14 Daugunu
13 Petaia
12 Stewart (tbc)
11 Speight
10 Hegarty
9 McDermott.

21 Sorovi / Tuttle
22 CFS
23 Campbell
What about Petaia? Can he be a 12 Reg?

Latho was never a 'big bodied' player if you ask me. He was more solid than some backs, but still an average build. More importantly, I don't think you need more than 2 boopers in the back line especially when you consider how hard Daugunu is in contact.

Speight is a big body no matter which way you cut it.

Impressed with Lucas so far but I think Stewart has more to offer at 15 yet. Limited game time this season with injury and constant shuffling of the backs.

There's something wrong about that backline Reg. Just doesn't look right.;):(
