We have an international coach on a mission to join SuperRugby and a focus on Australia. We have a Reds team on an international hunt for a coach. If he isnt on a list under consideration there is something badly stuffed up.

It is extremely unlikely that a NH coach would be appointed.

More likely a cousin from across the ditch for all the obvious reasons.

This is the QRU Scrubber, there is no such thing as "extremely unlikely". Besides I think Lancaster could be good for the organisation, at least he is used to being the boss. Recent Reds HC's have appeared to be quite meek in nature and outlook.

Better record then RG had when they gave him the job ;-)

Lancaster at least got the poms to beat the AB's.

To state the bleeding obvious: Lancaster's game style is totally unsuitable for Super Rugby. He would have to have a "Road to Damascus" experience before he could coach to win against the five NZ teams; and if you don't beat at least two of them you can forget finals.

WAS a great coach. Once dubbed the best never to coach QLD. Amateur era record with a stacked Souths team was very, very good. Since those days, very little to write home about apart from the Churchie joint premiership with Cooper and Pocock.

As long his brother realises it's not 1993 still, I think we will be alright.

Have personally been coached by him. He is VERY hands on.

He coached Leeds to 2 wins in a season and got them relegated.

I just don't believe that "better than Richard Graham" is much of benchmark given that it probably doesn't really narrow down the field any.

I maintain that we need to select a coach that has a long history of success as a head coach.

I'd be relatively happy with a short history as a successful head coach at domestic level - none of the candidates whose names have cropped up even seem to have that.

And maybe that's why RG kept getting appointed.....

Was able to catch a good chunk of the Scotland v. Australia U-20's match the other day.

Mason still looks a long ways off Super Rugby (based on this match), had some moments I think he'd rather forget.

Big Red received a yellow card pretty early on but it was a crap card and some tiddlywinks refereeing.

^^^The Big Red got Red from a second Yella. He might have to front judiciary and be rewarded with some holiday time to tour the sights of Manchester.

Yeah I was about to edit my post as I realized I omitted his second yellow (and subsequent red) - that one was very deserved.

This is why I can't believe there's no noise about us talking to Blackadder.

Is he already contracted to someone else?

Im only guessing here but I'd say both his ambition and his price to move to and live in Brisbane is above what we can afford to pay.

Head coach of a super Rugby side is a step back for him now

Still, I understand he is still in the mix

Frankly we cannot afford NOT to have him. This bloke is THE standout

The QRU - a mid-$20ms size business only - had no less than three people in its 'media and communications' team. Overheads had clearly become completely out of control, reckless at the very least when revenue was also falling sharply.

Scrubber - your drift is 100% right - this is where the QRU's money should be going, doing whatever it takes to secure, as gel says, a top quality coach with a proven record of success over a good period of time.

If they go for another of their favoured 'sons of QLD rugby' as HC (and there are echoes of that dangerous insularity and false safety with the new CEO recruitment) we will all just have to take up AFL or Netball by 2019, the QRU will be parklands supervisor of the Ballymore land and little else.

Pulling in Blackadder would be a hell of a coup. Another name who should be on the list.
