Brad Thorn coaching the forwards and Smith running with them. That's some serious experience.

to be honest, this news has floored me.

I guess he wanted to come back to Australia and with the Gill factor gone, it's only natural that the reds would be the best option given talent elsewhere.

Great mentor for Michael Gunn (and the other young backrowers we have in the system.

Still, not going to get too attached to the idea just yet.

If it's actually true it's great news for the Reds when it comes to replacing Gill. He was one of Wasps best players last year.

Seems to be true. You bastards.

Looking like a very decent squad next year.

Slipper
Moore
Holmes
Simmons
Douglas

Smith
Houston

Frisby
Cooper (also apparently keen to return)

Kerevi
CFS/Magnay

Hunt

With Thorn and Smith mentoring/hardening up the squad. Get a decent coach together and you'll be back in the finals.

Kerevi punching through the line at 12 and creating the space at 13 for Magnay to charge into off a long back from Cooper is very appealing.

With Poey out of the picture, I'm sure he would have been welcomed back here in Canberra as well.

A very good squad but will still have issues if they don't have any wingers.;)

TBH mate, if that squad had a decent coach you could probably do just as well without wingers. With them, if you get a decent coach, the wingers will be scoring so many easy tries. Cooper with Kerevi, CFS and Hunt will create a lot of go forward and space if they get quick ball, and you will with that forward pack.

I'd expect to see a lot of Hunt chiming in from FB into the 13 channel, inside shoulder of CFS after Kerevi has taken a few hitups and set the pattern. Long cut out to CFS in space and at speed, Hunt and Magnay etc in support.

Shame you don't have O'Connor still to ply at 13, that would be devastating, putting him and Kerevi outside Cooper.

I still think Hunt would be a better 12 than he is a 15 given the chance to play there. My preference would be to move Magnay to the wing initially, Hunt and Kerevi at 12/13 and find another fullback (?Mogg).

Mogg would be one of my favored options to come to the Reds. We need his boot

No coach, no flyhalf, no tighthead, no depth at lock, no centre or depth in back 5.

Reds sign 2 number 8s and a 7. We need a 7 of Smiths calibre no doubt, but I am worried that a coaching role might be part of the deal to get him to come to QLD.
