What faith? You guys were playing Ed over him before the incident.

He was offered a new contract despite been injured for the entirety of the 2012 and 2013 seasons.. That's quite a bit of faith in someone's prospects.. This is the first year the poor bloke has been able to string any real games together since 2011, it's not surprising he wasn't pushed straight into the Reds 22.

But I would certainly like to see McDuhling get more playing time in the final 3 games for the season. Even possibly a run on start.
To see what we have for next year.

The Reds are struggling to hold core players now. These are not the headliners, like Quade or Genia, but they are the core needed for a successful side.

I still think that the loss of Jono Owen does horrible things to the Reds depth, there are simply few THPs in Australian Rugby at Super level., regardless of what people think of his performance he had potential.

Agree Gnostic, but I think that was really another unavoidable loss to Australian rugby in general. We will always lose players who struggle to get consistent game minutes.

Trouble is they still "hold" Daley - shit scrummager - always was, always will be - Fucked if I know why - he's big enough and has been at the Reds for what, 7 or 8 years.

We rely on Slipper and Holmes. If one of those blokes gets injured we are now fucked. Albert just is not a possible 60-80 minute player - is fine for very short bursts of up to 20 minutes but has never hasd the "motor" to perform at S15 level for extended periods.

We need a Laurie Weekes bad (PAE as an alternative). Then at least we have coverage at THP if Holmes goes down.

The Reds scrum this year has been very good, the backs a long way behind. If we are to be a force again, we not only need some backs (as everybody seems to agree) but some forward stocks as well.

PS: It was time for the Reds to let Aiden head off. Talented bloke blah blah but injuries have fucked his career (to date) and it would be a game team or one with plenty of $$$$$4 that would actually take the risk. Having said that I wish the bloke all the luck in the world.

Maybe i have a different interpretation of 'core' but I don't consider Jono Owen a core player.. Is Jeremy Tilse a core player at the Tahs?

Everybody seems to be looking for any reason to kick this dog while it's down. Not saying everything is rosy, far from it in fact. But you will always lose players like Jono Owen. When they see they are well into their careers (3rd or 4th team in Australia - not sure if he was ever at the Force) and haven't nailed down a starting position, any significant financial reward is unlikely to come in their future so they consider more lucrative offers.

Nor do I, and I think Aidan will stay. I believe we are going after PAE, and we couldn't get him with Jono on the books.

Losing Aidan Toua is not bad because we are losing Aidan Toua (who never really played well enough at the super rugby level to concretely justify his retention) but is a problem because we have a huge fucking hole in our back 3.

Doss, for all his inconsistency with injury, has potential (primarily as a right winger in my view) to be a very good super rugby player. He is similarly freakish on the run but with better fundamentals and defence than someone like JJ taulagi for example.

Is it a tragedy if he goes? No, but it is frustrating as fuck. Surely he doesn't think he's "re-paid" fuck all of the faith the reds showed in him from 2009-2013 when he couldn't get on the paddock.

He's been great for us at times anyway. Wish he was saying but all the best if he feels he is on the way out here.

The way I see it, if there were to be a contract in QLD he would take it. I could only see him leaving if there was no contract. I would say Rod was given the tap on the shoulder.
