I'd be asking Ewen who he likes as new coach...

The problem is we need a coach who is experienced at implementing expansive game plans so that Quade can be used alongside the young talented (smaller) backs we have coming through.

The problem is that most reputations in coaching are built on consistent success which means that the risk taking, exciting and expansive stylists are very rare indeed.

I'll keep cheering for the Reds but I won't be wasting energy on stressing about them any more this season. Local club only; GO GATORS

I actually think you need to skip asking McKenzie, draw a line in the sand and get someone new to do what Link did for you - start a new program and direction and build but their way. Yeah, after its established get Link in to consult, but I think half the problem is prying the fingers open of the players, organisation and supporters who are still clinging to 2011.

The Reds have players, pathways a good organisation etc so you have an awesome platform that being wasted by not wanting to use what you built - and what it was intended for; the post link era.

Well for all those clamouring for Foley, just remember how well he actually performed at the Waratahs in a very similar scenario to RG...

Waratahs finished 5th in 2011 with 10 wins, Foley was promoted from assistant coach to head coach and achieved only 4 wins in his first year in charge with a very good playing roster.

Reds finished 5th in 2013 with 10 wins, Graham was promoted from assistant coach and his first year in charge he has won only 3 games with a quite good playing roster.

QRU CEO 'absolutely unequivocally' supports RG as coach, citing 'injuries and list' issues.

And in terms of team matters, presumably future ones, he's addressing 'the deficiencies' identified.

All on wrt an offer to J'OC apparently, or so reported.

And categorically, definitely 'the team is not divided'.

I'm sure... for once why don't they tell it like it is - Rugby fans are generally pretty well educated....

I think JOC (James O'Connor) would go OK @ the reds but seriously the Forwards have been bashed by just about every team this year... they look under-sized or under-motivated probably being more the case...

I think Locks and at least blind side flanker need to be 'enforcers' in the modern game - unfortunately no 'enforcers' in the Qld team this year...

Horwill use to have this quality ~2011 but I think he's matured a little too much... He played probably his best game v crusaders last week but backline defence, crap strategy and general mistakes made his efforts all for nothing...

"Ewen McKenzie the real culprit in the Reds' demise." Read here: http://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2014/may/14/ewen-mckenzie-queensland-reds-super-rugby

Is this true?

Its an interesting theory (and concern) a few others have quietly wondered about. Knowing I will get shouted down etc (expected), playing devils advocate if you ask a few question like Why RG? Why the timing? Why has he been there 2 years and head coach for 1? Where are his (RG's) new structures and arrangements? And even reading about the comments in this forum, why do they (Reds supporters) keep coming up with go back and ask Mackenzie?

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. I think read with an open mind it might at least point to some of the issues.

It also aligns with the theory about the playing style of which is heavily criticised that the Brumbies are trying to move past - the White Jake-ball legacy. Similar legacy issues.

I think Tim Minchin's wisdom may prevail in this case ...

It couldn't be an artefact of confirmation bias
A product of groupthink,
A mass delusion,
An Emperor's New Clothes-style fear of exclusion

So let me get this straight. We got pumped in the end last week by the Crusaders. Richard Graham's solution is to pick exactly the same line up as last week? Please correct me if I'm wrong here. Fuck me. Definition of fucking insanity.

Rod Davies has been good this year. How can JJ Tuilagi be picked over him? The guy essentially didn't chase a kick in the 2nd half. There's no discipline in the team to do things properly at all, and picking guys who fail to do these basic disciplines sends the message that he doesn't care about it.

He continues to play Taps and Fainga'a opposite to their favoured positions.

Surely it would be worth trying Browning at 8, McDuling at 6 and benching Schatz who remains largely ineffective. Perhaps then we'll have a back row with people at least doing their own role, not that of others at the expense of their own like we have had most of the year.
