So 2 spots left in the main squad and 5 in the EPS. So they need a back and a forward. The forward has so be able to play lock and/or 6/8 and the back can play pretty much anywhere due to the versatility of the rest of squad.

Dont be surprised if Link goes with a 16/14 or even a 17/13 split for his main squad when it comes to forwards/backs. Particularly with the regularity that Link goes for a 5/2 split on the bench.

As such, given that they got game time I would expect Enever and Butler to come on board possibly at EPS level. Browning has shown his class at schoolboy level even though his final position has not be set. As such I expect he would also get an EPS spot.

Lane (as I have commented earlier) is likely to be in Sydney under an EPS contract.

I also would not be surprised if UJ is in the EPS for another year. He certainly hasnt shown much at club level but he is a smokey and his reputation of past deeds may land him a role purely in that he has the X-factor that Link often talks about.

In Bowside's list Nick Frisby has a full time contract. Louis Frisby is suggested as a candidate for the EPS.

Yeh i'm pretty sure Nick Frisby ended up being on a fulltime contract during the 2012 season and then signed a longer deal, hence why there has been no actual annoucements made yet as its all just sort of happened through the natural course of things. I may be wrong but isn't there some rule where if a player plays X amount of games they are required to be given a full contract for that season?

$15k?

EPS Squads have a salary cap of $200'000 for 2013 and beyond, so technically a EPS player could earn $150'00, but that wouldn't leave much for everyone else.

Assuming clubs use the full salary cap, that would be an average wage of $40'000/player

Just to change the topic slightly - does anyone know when Reds Memberships go on sale?

My bad, can't read. I was referring to what some academy members are paid.

From 2013 onwards their is a salary cap of $200'000 for EPS squads, assuming that EPS squads are limited to 5 players as they are currently, this means there is potentially an average wage of $40'000 available for EPS members

That $15k figure may have been the max under the previous RUPA agreement, however there is a new CBA in place for 2013 onwards which factors in the salary cap.

at least with $15k a young player can survive and try and live out the dream for a number of years hoping to get picked up to the next level. Was told a year or two ago that one of saffa academies had like 100 players - top few get paid some $$$$ but the vast majority actually pay themselves (or their parents) to be a part of the Academy (and obviously hope to get picked up from there)

$15k is pretty decent for a 18-21 year old. Alot of then also study part time. I think it is appropriate for younger players who haven't earnt the big bucks yet

I was referring to Academy players not EPS, apologies for confusing the discussion

If they are paying 15-20 per player it would be nice to see it expanded to 10 players, not just 5.

that $15k figure was based on the old CBA... there is a new CBA in place for 2013 onwards which now has a $200k salary cap limit on the EPS... EPS players will likely be earning much more in 2013.
