Interesting EPS selections for sure. Is this Kevin Davis'third year in the set up (Academy/EPS)? Can anyone from Uni comment at how far along his development has come and whether he looks to have the goods to step up in 2013?

Enever and Butler kind of pick themselves, having made their debuts in 2012, and showing excellent form at Club level.

With regard to UJ, he has been pretty hyped, but he is after all, only first year out of school, and probably deserves another chance in 2013. May well rip it up second year out. As for Faulkner, he has been blighted with injury but I did see him in one game for Easts v Norths, when he played at 13. He really looked the goods that day positionally. He also played very well on the wing in a game I saw against GPS. Big, rangy, strong and very, very fast. Let's see how he goes with an injury free run.

there are ony 5 EPS spots so it must have been a tough selection call. Good to see the likes of Taumata, Ah Wong and Rex Tapuai in the Reds College side. I hear Browning may be there as well. If they have the right attitude to training and show some hunger then I'm sure that the coaching staff will give them every chance when the break comes. A few will probably get their chance to impress in trials in January.

I don't know why many of the EPS players chosen by the Reds, and the other teams for that matter, are not more mature players, especially in the forwards.

Ostensibly these are the guys that have to step up if there are injuries.

Of the Reds EPS players, only Davis is mature. Yeah I know that Butler and Enever have already been on the park in Super rugby, but I think you need hard head forwards to be ready to run on unless you have a young Pocock or TPN type in the stable. They scared opponents in their school days and one never had to worry about them playing senior rugby, even pro rugby.

Having said that, what little I have seen of Enever has impressed me: he is a future hard head.

I'm not so fussed about the backs being young, though I am not sure why UJS was given a spot. I know he was in the squad in 2011 but he is still only 18 and it's not as though he looked like a EPS player based on what he did in the U/20 tournament this year.

Maybe he is a long term project and perhaps we shouldn't judge him on his Oz U/20 performances. Fair enough; he wasn't the only one in that squad to disappoint.

I have seen young Faulkner a bit in the Oz Schools tournament and after school but he never made his mark in any game I saw him play.

Do we know the Reds Academy for next year?

I suspect it will be full of Premier Rugby stars and not those 20 or under. So I hope to see guys like: Ah Wong, Taumata, R.Tapuai, Stollberg, Browning, Buchanan, Brandon, Gillespie, Taikato-Smith, Shannon Walker, Parraka/Bermigham, Ngaumo.

It'll be good to keep these guys around, all talented and most on the edge of Super Rugby (or there abouts).

Also, I'd say having the likes of Pat Richards involved at the QRU had played a big part in those East players been chosen... Pat has been used as a representative coach a number of times for City/QLD teams

These guys get to do some training with the Supe side, right?

If so, then it would seem like they are the players to call up when needed, rather than some EPS "colts".

Anyone one know the list of players?

Shannon Walker is already contracted to 7's... He won't be in the squad

....

Regardless, wasn't part of Links new responsibilities related to player recruitment/retention and identification?

Not part of Links repsonsibilites they are his responsibilities. Richard Graham would have very little if anything to do with the final say. Everything rests on Link.
