Don't the Reds already have 30 players under contract? I thought that was generally the limit unless their were special circumstances like an injury crisis.

I don't think the risk is Quade playing any worse, more Quade being seen to play worse.

Let's face it, the man has a whole heap of terrific strengths and terrible weaknesses. The difference between him having a good or bad game are as much in people perceptions as in his actual performances.

Cooper was always going to have an extrememly difficult Tri Nations, anyway. He'll be targeted by the two best teams in the world for a number of consecutive weeks (unless he's injured).

Why are people chalking his great form up to this case, anyway!? Did the EOYT, a change of coach, a great partnership in the halves and the performance of the forward pack have nothing to do with it?

Greg Inglis's girlfriend has just got a job in Queensland. He wants 6 or 7 hundred grand a year doesn't he? The Reds don't even have 6 grand.

Say 150k from Reds + ARU top up + World cup (80k?)/Test (15k?) payments + media/marketing incentives = A very nice salary and World Cup opportunity for years work IMO

I agree with all of the above DPK but can I add that a big scare that it was time for him to grow up, mature and be a man was the catalyst. All that raw talant now has a brain behind it. How he has played so well with all the distractions in the background is what has amaized me.

That is a massive plus if he is originally from QLD. With him currently playing at 12, he could be a versatile option to keep on the bench. He looks the goods and I think he could certainly develop more in a professional environment.

Lee, if you are looking for a veteran as an emergency player for S15 at flyhalf, then I don't believe there is one in Sydney club rugby this year. A player who would still be under 25 but has previously been in an Academy program and has much first grade experience is Dan Kelly from Uni. He played in the ARC but has missed a fair bit of rugby in Oz due to injury in the last 2 years although I think he played in Ireland over the recent Oz summer. He would get my vote for the Tim Walsh replacement. Otherwise I would take Gamgee over Ward as Ward is quite static when he gets the ball and there have to be question marks over his defence after the ease at which Wests ran through the midfield (Lester's 2 tries in the 2nd half) last week in the TV match.

Geez Eyes you've got a better eye for players ability than I do, but you would have with your user name. :D It wasn't a great look for the defenders when Lester scored but I thought it was more a case of not being aligned right because nobody touched him. Mind you if Lester ran at me I might make sure there was a decent gap for him to take.

Agree that Kelly is a good player.

How good is it to see 'fringe reds' players Saia Fainga'a and Rob Simmons running around there, now playing test match footy about 8 months later. And Higgers too in the Wallaby squad.
