I believe so, however I have seen Ant training at 5/8th for Souths during the last couple weeks. He has been practising his place kicks and drop kicks too, does anyone know if he played at 10 for Souths this weekend past, first Souths game I have missed all year.

nah he played 12 all game. Not sure who was 10 first half, but then Quade came on at half time.

Ahh, well at least its good to see him doing some work on the other aspects of his game, you never know when shit will hit the fan come the s14 season. I heard Quade played well too, I think clubland is where Quade developed partially last year. When he started club last year he was almost unsighted, just another player, but the end of the season he was the stand out performer every game.

I imagine Ben Lucas is second in line for 5/8, the halves combo is actually a rather weak spot in terms of player depth for the Reds..

Ben Tapuai isn't much of a 5/8 to be honest, not much of a ball player and his kicking is still a work in progress, hopefully johno lance is still in the academy next year but they cant expect him to hang around forever

I don't agree - Ben Tapuai is a more than capable back up 10. Although he is without a doubt a born 12.

ive watched Tapuai play 10 at Sunnybank a few times, and whilst he can fill in reasonably well at club level at 5/8 it is obvious its not his natural position. His asset is his running game and abilty to offload in tackles, His passing game was questionable at best, he cant pass a great distance and when he does pass he really turns his body towards the direction his going to pass. Someone told me he was a great kicker, well unless he was having a off day then there are plenty of question marks there as well.

If Quade Cooper, Ben Lucas, Johno Lance and Anthony Fainga'a were injured(in that order) i would then play Tapuai at 5/8, but definetly not before any of them.

I think it was me as I remember the discussion, and he does have a very good kicking game. Long and short. But you are probably right in the thought that he is not a natural 10. I do however think that he has the potential to be the best 12 in the country.

I agree that he has the makings of a very good inside centre, he runs hard and knows how to dent the defensive line, his style of play will go well with a ball playing 5/8 like quade..

I agree with Taps being a back up 10.. but what about Matt Brandon from easts? How isnt he is the order? surely a more rounded player then Lance. Has he got a contract anywhere for next year?

Haven't seen a lot of Taps, but watching Lance play in both the semi-final and final of prem colts last year he made some pretty costly, basic errors. In the semi-final he dropped the ball with the line open for the match winning try. In the final he missed the conversion from in front that would have drawn the game, and thus because it was colts won Uni the premiership because they won it the previous year.

Is Tim Walsh still around at Easts? I think he was playing F/B when I last looked - he was an adequate five eighth replacement (in an emergency).

I think he's officially retired Lance.

Link reckons he wants a more experienced edge to the Reds Academy. I would've thought players like Brandon and the Murphy's from Brothers might be considered.

Matt Brandon is injured at the moment, and Jack 'Chucky' Mullins filled in at 10 for easts and had a blinder apparently. Matt Brandon is terribly unlucky not to have a contract somewhere and would be a perfect candidate for the academy. Far better player than Tim Walsh.

Reds should have a look at Robbie Coleman in our acadamy down here. Got some game time at the end of the season and was starting 12 at this years JWC. We have Giteau, To'omua and Lealiifano to cover 10 so don't know how much game time he'll see next year which could lead him to jump ship.

Robbie is a star I would love to have him at the Reds, but with A. Finger and Taps his road to 12 is pretty blocked. I thought the Force were pretty close to securing Robbie?

Coleman would be closer to 12 then Taps I reckon. Taps still has a bit of a way to go. Being said I think I said the same thing about Anthony Fainga'a. Coleman is a super star in the making.

Davies is still injured. A mate saw Davies & Chambers at a boystown gig signing some reds gear for kids that's when I heard about Chambers also being injured.

Anyone know what Scott Daruda is doing? I was hoping Link would chase him as a back up 10/12.

Jeremey Paul is a fuckwit, I shook my head when he scoffed at marto saying that Ant Fainga'a was an option.
He quickly covered arse by saying that Barnes is a better option but we all know he's knobbing Giteau.

If he isn't removed from the show I'll probably stop watching it, he's such a tit.
