A donation of a super match payment is fantastic if you are Matt Giteau or the reserve prop for the Rebels. I don't think its our place to call people out to donate anything, they are all doing a great job at the moment and I wish them all the luck in the world. Except when they play the Tahs.

Yeah, let them give what they can and hopefully not advertise it.

Do you vote for the Prime Minister?

But I agree, it shouldn't be a popularity contest. We didn't vote for a captain in U12's, and it shouldn't be done in professional rugby either. Coach should always have the last call as a captain has a lot more responsibilities than just being someone other players look up to.

Pedantry of the highest order, I know, but just to set the record straight, we don't vote for a prime minister. We vote for our local member and the majority party chooses its leader who becomes the prime minister.

Sorry, covered already. I see I'm not the only pedant in the house.

Good on the Faingaas for the big donation. No false modesty, just putting it out there for the public to hear and pitch in some money too.

Good to see QC (Quade Cooper)'s twitter post about the reds helping out on the news during to day. The Reds seem to be more public than other codes in helping out. I know it is not a time to promote the game but it is good to see Rugby getting some tv time when in Brisbane if Alfie Langer was just thinking about helping it would be big news.

Well Done Reds

Yep, good work by the Reds today, probably comes from the top as Link is big on twitter as are most of their high profile players.

please, its hardly glamor chasing, its just setting a good example and generating news in the hope other players will follow.. Similar to how Harold Mitchell donated $100'000 and said he hopes the rest of the Rugby Community to help contribute $500'000 all up.

I wonder if it too soon to organize the first game of the season to be a charity fund raiser for the floods, maybe all ticket sales over 30000 people go to charity? A packed Sunday afternoon would be awesome and be for a good cause.

Yeah, let them give what they can and hopefully not advertise it.

They were both ambassadors during the breast cancer awareness week and were prominent in various charities throughout the year. To suggest they are chasing some kind of glory now that they are getting coverage for it would be pretty insulting. They obviously have their heart in a good place, good on them.

great to hear from both the individuals and the overall organization at the reds. maybe this would have been their reaction in any year, but since the regime change you'd expect nothing else from them. kudos for how they run things over there.

:nta: That wasn't what I said, that is your inference.

Is this the ultimate cross-training in the face of adversity whilst helping the community at the same time?

not a fishing excercise. How do you think this will effect the team performance early inthe S15? Will the loss of training time at this point of pre season have a larger negative effect than the "lets do it for Queensland" effect post disaster?

What are the chances of the first game being moved to Ballymore if Suncorp is out of order. The Roar may need to play a couple of games there too.
