Now this young Nick Frisby (Reds Academy signing). He's a GPS Colts halfback - I think he's just turned 18. He's got all the skills and head and shoulders above any other Colts halfback I've seen this year (incl Ruka Hanlon from GC).

He was the GPS Premier Colts captain and has a good tactical brain. Elusive runner, great pass and box kick par excellence. One to watch.

I went to school with Nick Frisby - his nickname is Pickle, for those of you into that. I remember him being a skinny little guy, I'm sure he will fill out a bit now that he is in a prof. environment. Anyone who lives around Ashgrove in Brisbane will know of the various Frisby families as they breed like rabbits. As far as I know he is a pretty zippy runner and just knows how to use a football, bit of a freak. Like LF said, one to watch!

Whats the latest with this Jared Butler character? Big wraps as a schoolboy, but is he going to be big enough to play senior rugby in the backrow? or perhaps a better question does he have the game to be a senior number 7?

I see that he is playing in the GC 7s would appreciate anyone who is attending taking a few notes on all players. Cheers. (also any excuse to get the Reds thread back on the front page).

I think we may play the Brumbies in NT?

& then possibly another trial in regional QLD? Don't think we have a trial in Briso. Which I am not against.

Edit: 2nd trial v Crusaders at a venue tbc.

Will Chambers is back from injury this weekend, playing in the Noosa 7's with Leroy Houston and a few other Reds quad members..

I find the concept of Leroy playing 7's interesting, maybe it's a indicator of how Link wants Leroy to perform in 2011, a bit leaner perhaps..

Out of the forward pack, Leroy is one seriously at risk of losing his starting position, with the likes of Shatz and Quirk on the rise, the blindside/number 8 positions will be very contencious in 2011

I reckon Leroy was too 'lean' last year. He didn't have the weight to bust the tackles he did the previous year (albeit for only the first half of each match). I hope he has bulked up a bit (at least in the muscle stakes).

Leroy will rise to the challenge. We need a few 'older' players.

PS Queensland rugby should secede from the Wallabies after the last two results on tour.

Was Alec Evans on the Reds coaching staff in 2010? because he is in 2011

Also surprising to note that the Reds still have no major sponsor signed for next year yet.... Rumour is a few potential sponsors are awaiting the fallout of the incredibly slow CMC investigation to make sure there brands aren't tarnished in any fallout..

It's also claimed that the Reds membership drive is going well, no figures to back that up yet though, I do think the 'Reds School' program they are running at the moment is a case of marketing genius, the players visit the school handing out 2011 membership programs and then sign the programs as well, kids run home and show mummy and daddy what they got at school that day.. Proportionately cheap, but extremely effective..

word on the street corner is the qru remains a joke, which is a shame as it seemed things were headed in the right direction in the front office...

TOCC, I believe that indeed AE was on the Reds' coaching staff in 2010 as I am sure I've heard and seen Link and QRU others expressing their high regard for his contribution to the major strides the Reds forwards made this year.

(Btw, for what it's worth, I have repeatedly argued that AE could potentially be of great assistance to the Wallabies as forwards coach, perhaps aiding defence too. Manifestly, other than the encouragement of Pocock which was hardly an act of super-human skill, Williams has been a flop as Wallabies forwards specialist coach after 3 years in the saddle.)

Based on the number of members already signed up, Reds crowds in 2011 should be bigger than those in 2010 - provided they keep winning of course. Still a fair bit of work to do to get to the 15,000 mark though - or so the man on the street says.

It will be interesting to see how the crowd numbers are for the afternoon games. I still haven't ever done a XXXX brewery tour but have circled the 26th of March 2011 as the day to get it done.

Brewery tour around 12pm will lead very nicely into the Reds playing the Cheetahs at 2:40pm (yes - on a Saturday) which will lead directly into the Chiefs v Blues match to be followed by the Brumbies v Tahs game. Think I may spend a dollar or two on Caxton St that night....
