I wouldn't be surprised to see Slipper have the first 2 weeks of the season off, give him some extra time after returning from the Wallabies to work on bulking up some more.... If he makes the Wallabies in 2011 then he is in for a very long season

That means we could start with Daley and Shepherdson.....

I think it would be a good reminder of who is boss if he keeps Slipper on the bench for a few weeks to remind him that he has not proven himself for the Reds. He needs to prove himself worthy of the tripod.

With all these options we have across the park, It would be great to see a probables vs possibles match at training later in the pre season. It looks like internal competition for jersey's is going to be fierce within the squad this year. Good stuff and bring it on.

Like it, so if you take out the Wallabies (Quade, Genia, Slipper and Saia) and discount the main injuries (Kev and Chambers), you could come up with a probables team of:

15 Peter Hynes, 14 Rod Davies, 13 Digby Ioane, 12 Anthony Fainga'a, 11 Luke Morahan, 10 Michael Harris, 9 Ben Lucas, 8 Leroy Houston, 7 Lei Tomiki, 6 Scott Higginbotham, 5 Rob Simmons, 4 Radike Samo, 3 Guy Shepherdson, 2 James Hanson, 1 Ben Daley.

Then a possibles team could be:

15 Aidan Toua, 14 Dom Shipperley, 13 Mitchell Felsman, 12 Ben Tapuai, 11 Kimani Sitauati, 10 Jono Lance, 9 Ian Prior, 8 Jake Schatz, 7 Liam Gill, 6 Ed Quirk, 5 Van Humphries, 4 Adam Wallace-Harrison, 3 Greg Holmes, 2 James Charalambous, 1 Albert Anae.

Then the rest of the lads could just sit on the bench and be used for either team:

Beau Robinson, Ben Coridas, Blake Enever, Dallan Murphy, David McDuling, Jarrad Butler, Joel Faulkner, Kevin Davis, Mat Lucas, Michael Bermingham, Michael Stolberg, Nick Frisby, Shon Siemonek, Simon Morahan, Tevita Kuridrani, Tim Buchanan.*

Shepherdson has to prove to be worth of the tripod as well!

I personally would like to see Slipper at TH with Daley or Holmes at LH.

Promote it, free entryand priority seating to the members of the first 15. Give a real community element to it and use it also as a huge PR exercise.

Will the ARU have any say? What if the Reds need him at LHP only and Deans wants him at THP? or vice versa, do the Reds have any obligation in regards to where he plays, or if he makes the team (of course he will!).

The Reds are looking very good next year depth-wise. The only two problem areas that stand out are hooker (the loss of Hardman will be huge - hope Saia can back up this years form) and openside. Unfortunately they are two crucial positions in the pack. I'm guessing Lucas will be Quade's backup and I haven't heard much about Harris. Anyone care to fill me in?

why not ask the Brumbies about that and where they play Ben Alexander.

In short, the Reds have no obligation whatsoever. Nor do the Brumbies.

ARU doesn't seem to be able to influence the Brumbies, otherwise Alexander would most likely be playing THP for them (and would also be a better THP for it).

Luckily it seems the Reds have enough strength at LHP and some limitation at THP (with the exit of Weekes) to suggest he is likely to get the gig there, or at least cover both sides from the bench.

Harris looked very capable in the NPC games I saw play. Just a very polished kicker (and an excellent goal kicker) with a controlled game plan, still with solid skills. He won't tear anyone apart ala Quade, but he will be very valuable I suspect.

Great to see Link twittering that 'Chambers is 99% right'. Such a shame that injury for him this year; would have loved to see him play a role with the Wallabies, or even midweekers now. 2011 could be very big for him.
