i dont think the matter is about matching the money... it is the opportunity at the force that would of attracted him to the west. TOCC said it well. there are a fair few props in the senior QLD squad that would be in front of PAE so i think its a great move for him and knowing him, his family aswell. good luck PAE in the west!

yeah, but the thing that irritates me is that PAE only signed a rookie contract with the force - not a senior contract. First of all how did we not match that? and secondly if we did match that, why did he want to leave QLD?

rookie contract is a full contract. We couldn't match that as our contract numbers are full with, as mentioned above, plenty of (test) props. Good for him for going where the opportunities are. Hopefully he'll come back to QLD to play his club footy though.

For the benifit of the growth of rugby, Force players should be playing their club rugby in the west.

Exactly, the Force just give different names to there contracting system, its not a clear cut Academy/Professional system like the Reds, the equivalent to a rookie contract would be Gill, Anae and Quirk at the Reds..

Definetly agree there, but that could also be at the detriment of the players development...does a player learn more playing Premier Grade or 4th Grade?

Maybe we should have this chat in the Force thread but this is a good case of short term loss for long term gain. With the lack of a competeing League presence and the strong SA and Brit population, club rugby has enormous potential in the west. I don't think it would take long for the standard to rise.

The standard of WA rugby is getting better and better for 2 reasons.

1. More exposure for the game.
2. Population is on the up (particular the Saffa population).

Having Force players playing is the WA league would speed this up even more.

I 100% agree with that. The club infrastructure is pretty good and the quality of play is better now than ever. Rugby is actually quite a well patronised and played game over here.

like ruggo suggested, continue this conversation in the western force thread or alternatively the grass roots

Ewen McKenzie is apparently looking at signing Johno Lance as the final vacant position for the squad in 2011

It makes sense to me as he has been in great form for Uni this year.

Brandon has been in great form, some of my mates who play at easts told me that Ewen McKenzie was down at easts last training session to watch and talk to Brandon

If you want to see some good highlights of the Reds 2010 season check out this site by the Reds

www.firstxv.com.au

Also I registered my interest for next year, and I go in the draw to win membership, it's easy check it out

hmm two posts the same, your first two posts, I know its the Reds but this sounds suspiciously like a spammer.

Thoughts from the peanut gallery? Do we let Mr Jameson stay to prove he's more than just a Reds sales rep or do we burn him!
