We do need a kicker, cooper 7 from a couple of week ago but terrible against the crusaders. granted he got the one the counted but we should have been ahead by i think at least 10.

Harris has kicked well in what we have seen, but cooper he needs to lose that arm swing from the upper body to get rid of that swing in the ball.
I dont think he is holding his upper body turned around through the kick like he did last year. A comparison of his method would be interesting to see.

Despite all the doom & gloom around at the moment over the current injury situation and loss to the Brumbies, the Reds are still a chance of locking up top spot this weekend. For that to happen, obviously they need to do the job on the Force.

Then if the Crusaders roll the Blues in Timaru, and the Bulls can get the job done over the Stormers in Capetown, we could have top spot sealed without even needing to worry about rushing blokes back in for the Chiefs match.

The biggest IF is can we beat the Force with our current depleted line-up though.

A bonus point here or there could make all the difference though....

That won't be necessary. The Reds should be far too good no matter who's out there for the Force.

I would hardly think that now would be the time for such arrogant dribble and I am positive that Link would not be giving his team that message.

Hmm, and I doubt Graham will be leaving out his star players either...

That said, the Reds have responded well to both previous losses this season. I expect they will do the same this weekend.

If that response is good enough to get them a win, it could also seal the number 1 spot for them - mathematically.

Two crucial differences to previous post-loss Reds response situations: one, now, we have major injury absences throughout our backline, two, prior the oppositions concerned were not in a 'nothing to lose, just play for pride' mode which IMO emboldens the lower-ranked sides to relax somewhat and just play hard and to their strengths and with less fear of making an error that could cost ranking points; in effect, they play better later for nothing (in championship terms) than earlier for something. The now higher ranked teams by definition played much better than the lower ranked ones when it really mattered.

You need to win actually. If you lose with a BP the Stormers can still come first if they win with a BP.

God dam we need Hynes to just randomly appear from wherever he has been! No Morahan,Davies,Lucas,Fainga'a,Toua

It'd be too late to call back Sitauti from U20's wouldn't it?

Reds 3 Tries last night gives them 44 for the season which is one more than last year and a new Reds record for most tries scored in a single season. Another little box ticked for the 2011 squad. Also a first away win over the Force.

Some of the 1st's on offer for the Reds in Hamilton this week are:

1. First place on the Overall Ladder at the end of the regular season
2. First Reds team in Super Rugby history to finish the regular season with higher than a 75% win/loss ratio, &
3. First Win in New Zealand for 2011.

According to Jim Tucker at the Courier Mail, centre Steve Kefu may pull the red jumper on later this week.

FORMER Wallaby centre Steve Kefu and club rugby stalwart Ant Sauer are among the emergency possibilities for a Reds side nursing two more battered backline bodies.

Using the power of google (yes Jim - it's that easy) it appears he has left Wasps to play for the Bay of Plenty in the ITM cup via the Sunshine Coast Stingrays, where he is cameoing this month. From the Sunshine Coast Daily on June 3:

THE “Toutai Kefu effect” has yielded dividends again, with former Wallaby Steve Kefu set to make a stunning debut for the Sunshine Coast Stingrays this weekend.

The younger brother of Stingrays coach and Wallabies great Toutai, Steve will turn out for the Rays throughout June.

The 31-year-old represented Australia six times from 2001-03 and spent the past two years playing rugby in England for London Wasps.

He has signed with Bay of Plenty for the upcoming National Provincial Championship in New Zealand. His commitments across the ditch begin in late June and he hopes to play three Premier Rugby matches for the Rays.

“When I was in London, I rang my brother and had a chat to him and he said I needed to stay fit for a few weeks,” Steve said.

“I decided to come down and play for his team. He said he was short on backs.

“He owes me a lot after this, especially fuel money.”

The Reds will also hopefully by seasons end have won more games in a single season that any other team ever.....helped by the longest season ever, but still brag worthy
