Agreed, what happened to those gloves Elsom used to wear?

Higgers also dropped a very similar sitter against the Rebels. Getting ahead of themselves..

Realise the Rocket is playing pretty good footy BUT he dropped a friggin' SITTER and bombed a certain try last weekend. Lucky it was against the Cheaters and not a competitive team. It would have lost the match !!!!! Give the bloke some "grippo"

He was running at light speed, the ball was lagging behind.

Yes, physics tells us it was an impossible ball to catch.

If you are running at light speed as he regularly does then the pass would have to be going faster than light speed for him to catch it. That is your problem right there.

The calculations required for someone to throw such a ball are immense, if only the person passing the ball had a laptop.............

Cooper and Davies were talking about this in a article i read(cant find it)...

Essentially Davies conceded his handling skills is at times poor because he is trying to run so fast, that he is using his sprint training and being technically precise when he should be more concerned about the ball. For a sprinter, you always have one hand back and one hand forward, this is what happened to davies and could be the reason he dropped a sitter, he said that he needs to read the game better to prepare to receive the ball by having both hands up.

I can see where Davies is coming from. I was a sprinter for a long time and hence I have trouble catching passes at speed for exactly the same reason.

I don't think generally his hands are poor, haven't seen any major issues when he runs into contact, which he is starting not to shy away from these days. I think it's more of a case of running into ridiculous gaps where timing is everything.

Yeah, Tapuai has been fine in defence, but he's struggled in a backline who've done plenty of attacking in the last few games. Ioane in a roving role got a lot more involved. Which is why I like Diggers on the wing - letting him rove around, looking for work seems to generally work well for him.

Twice in the game Taps was in support and had the pass from either Davies or Ione been thrown we would all be celebrating him as a two try hero. Give the lad time! I think he is more of a 12 but hopefully he will retain his spot at 13.

Houston and Humphries told to pack their bags next season?

Van is understandable as he's not getting any younger but the news about Leroy is disappointing. He is still young enough and not that far away from deserving another shot at the Wallabies. Memo to John O'Neil - if your "salary cap" leads to talent dilution leads to lower standards of play, watch as the crowds/revenues/general interest in the game are also diluted. Then again, it is Brett Harris writing the story.

I find it hard to believe Houston has been shown the door. He has started every game this year. Van maybe but he is still contributing. we do have 5 top class second rowers if you include Samo. Who is also pretty old but has cooler hair.

Like every article Brett Harris writes, it has to be taken with a grain of salt..

I guess we need to consider what the overall plan is for the Reds backrow, currently we have 3 of the best young back-rowers in the country signed up at the Reds(Shatz, Gill and Quirk), all of whom are getting intermediate game time at the moment, If Link intends to retain these players, maybe he needs to give them more game time(and upgraded contracts).

If the Reds retained all there current backrow players and they continued there development, the best backrow the Reds could put on the field in 2013 would be:
6. Quirk
7. Gill
8. Shatz

Might be a little harsh on Higgers and Houston, but IMO Quirk is much more naturally talented and has a far better understanding of the game then Higgers, once his physical development catches up, he will overtake Higgers. In the case of Shatz, he may not be as naturally talented as Houston, but his work ethic and mentality more then compensate for this difference, i expect to see Shatz get more and more game time at 8 throughout 2011.

I think that Link can rotate 5 backrowers but not 6 and Houston can only play 8 so he is the one to loose out. Will be interesting to see where he goes. Rebels and Brumbies would be his only options in Aust. Beau will be around for a couple of seasons while Gill develops and it will be interesting to see how soon before Gill gets a start.

Season still on track boys and girls. Now next week we all know it would be great if we got a win, but I would settle for a bonus point or 2.

Expect to see Simmons and Daley start next week.

Yep 10min, it wasn't a horrendous tackle, but going on the trend set for dangerous tackles so far this season, he can probably expect a 1 match ban i suspect

Id have to watch the tackle again... your right, he could be up for 2 - 3 weeks though.

Sidey was banned for 3 weeks for this tackle, however i think the penalty(ban) for this tackle may have been exasperated by the injury that Ndungane received

I think the Sidey tackle was slightly worse but Slipper will definitely be facing a ban.

James Buchanan

Trevor Allan (34)
If Slipper gets weeks for that tackle I will be further disgusted about the policing of 'spear tackles'. There was literally nothing in that, just a little uncontrolled. He copped a penalty and a yellow. That's more than enough. Lets move on.
