My reading of what a home union/union is different to what your and Reg's is.Per the nonsensical clause b, he'd be a non contract player and his home union would be eligible for compensation for his training and development.
It's a load of horseshit but the red jowled rah rah boys in Dublin decree it!
As per the definitions section;
Home Union means the Union with which a Player is or was first Registered, or, if different, the Union where a Player was trained or developed.
Then, how is a Union defined;
Union(s) means every national rugby Union for the time being in full and/or associate and/or recognised regional development membership of World Rugby and/or an Association.
With that in mind, slot in the definitions in our case;
(a) a Contract Player whose written agreement has expired enters into a written agreement for the first time with a Union, Rugby Body or Club outside his Home Union (Australia), his Home Union (Australia) shall, be entitled to compensation for his training and/or development;
(b) a Non-Contract Player enters into a written agreement for the first time with a Union, Rugby Body or Club outside his Home Union (Australia), his Home Union (Australia) shall be entitled to compensation for his training and/or development.
So, should the Reds or the Rebels be entitled to any cash?
