The colours of the state tartan appears to be the only official mention of state colours from the Vic Govt...

Edit: it takes a deep dive to find an official mention of 'silver and blue.'

Well Pone will be going from 1st choice tight head and wallaby hopefull, to guaranteed 2nd fiddle. Eloff is already signed through originalyl as a THP but can shift across. Talakai is now a wallaby and is also a THP.

They won't have the money to keep Pone who will want an upgrade, but with tupous arrival, would be technically a downgrade at the rebels. at least he is of immesne value to other teams.

Maybe part of the carrot for Tupou was a situation similar to Slipper & Sio at the Brumbies? We all know about Taniela's discomfort with how much he was overplayed. Maybe he came to Melbourne to be a 50 minute player and rest his body more.

Not a bad tag team Pone and Tupou - almost as great as the Skelton/potgieter if we saw it.

It's a great setup, if you can afford it. Don't forget where Slipper was in his career at the time, he was likely available at well below his value. Even if he wasn't, neither him nor Sio were on anything like what Tupou is reportedly getting in this new deal, or I think even what he is getting on his current contract.
