It's probably just talk, but talk works when you're representing a government with a (surplus) budget of $54b. Good on John Eren.

If the ARU pull the plug on the Rebels the Victorian government will never forgive them - the ARU have already done it once when the stadium was built and they gave the licence to the force.

Let's talk Leafa.

Seems to be a lovely guy, real team glue character, but christ he can be a liability. The lineout splutters and dies when he's throwing and the bloody penalties. Twice now he's been the one pinged at critical moments. Last night's call was bullshit but he's still giving away silly penalties.

Does my head in.

That penalty was an absolute f***ing joke and was critical to the result of the game. If the penalty goes the other way, as it should have, the Rebels are down the other end of the field, Colby does not get binned, another bullshit decision, and the Rebels could have held on. Pat is the nicest bloke you could ever meet and his lineout throwing is horrendous but you can't blame him for those penalties. I thought he was stiff with the one blown against him late in the game last week as well.

Is there a dataset that records penalties? Interested to see who is the most expensive in the team...

Agree to an extent re. whether or not you can blame him. Last night's critical penalty was pure bullshit of the highest order, but he's a consistent offender.

Not defending Pat (well, a bit), but maybe some of the lineout woes can be placed on the jumpers?
Have to agree, our line out has sucked since Ged left. Does not matter if it was pat or hanson throwing. Would help of we had 3 full time jumpers.

perhaps there is collective Vic Govt guilt over their complete ineptitude in the first franchise bid. much too little and much too late in 2003 and 2004

A big problem for the Rebels is they can't hold onto a lead or compete in the second half.

In 4 games this year, their second halves have come up with just 14 points. You can't forget they lead 25-6 last night and they also lead the Hurricanes 6-0....

Gut wrenching for the Rebs but it is an 80 min game. Some solid performances but the set piece is not reliable at pivotal moments

Interesting stat (if Iv calculated correctly). Rebels are -19 points dif in first half, -104 in the second. Ouch!

Love Pat. Not sure Siliva would be any better. Think Uelese is Hanson's backup from next season as a consequence.

I suspect either Pat or Silvia will go for 2018. My Money is on Pat sticking around as the 3rdstring. Jordan is the next chosen one.

Apologies for the negativity of the comment but it's born from a frustration that there appears to be an air of inevitability developing over our future . I love the club. It's a family thing for me and my boys as Sydney siders who have moved to
Melbourne . Going to the Rebs games is something we look forward to as a family . The thought of this being taken away is frankly depressing. And I'm just a member . How must this sorry mess be effecting the staff who I'm sure are busting their backsides to try to get people along to the games .
Never seen so much push from the club to encourage a crowd to a match than last Friday . The result was close to the worst crowd I've seen in 6 years .
And the effect on the players is just as obvious . For all of the justified criticism of Tony here , think how hard it must be to keep this group motivated with the level of uncertainty around . If anyone thinks that most professional players can just wipe away the off field distractions and concentrate on playing from my experience they are wrong . It does effect the group .
So apologies again for the negative crap but I'm sure like all of us who are passionate about our club , it hurts at the moment .

Adding to the negativity, this weekend I found myself for the first time ever cheering on overseas teams against the aus team. All out of spite for some of other teams on the chopping blocks insistent pointing of the figure at the rebels, basically being prepared to push our heads under the water to insure theirs keep afloat (one team considerably worse at it than the other). But mainly because I didn't want them to win as it would add weight to the other teams being better than the rebels. It's a shit situation all round. In a time of such negativity, it's hard to band together.

Let's just play 40 min then.
they'd still be only 1 and 3
