It's a two way street though.

Every team/employer also hires people who have been developed elsewhere.

Also let's remember he wasn't even on an EPS contract.

The kid is probably not being given more than board and living expenses and is living like a professional.

we have a genuine 6 Luke Jones is his name.

Luke has been picked up for the Wobs as a lock, and considering the ilk of our other locks probably won't be playing at 6 for quite some time.

Jones played 6 for Uni and the under 20's didnt he? He has said many times that he sees his future long-term as a blindside flanker not a lock.

Uncalled for? By whose reckoning?

It's called a free market, and happens in all parts of business and sport.

It's possibly annoying, but not illegal, so my point is that let's not call the kid a derogatory name just because he twisted your feathers.

I'm sure there is a GAGR rule about that kind of thing somewhere around here, so I guess it's by my reckoning.

If the word deserter breaches your rules and regs, by all means censor it.

Anyway, as I said - I'm shitty about how the season has turned out (yet again) and the departure of more young players with promise is a further kick in the teeth.

Hanging out for some cheery news from the club about the last loose ends on the list for 2015.

Waratahs board suggesting Cam Crawford will jump ship to us. Will probably slot straight into full back.

On that note, I could potentially see us losing one of English and Inman, but I feel it would be a stretch to lose both. Both in terms of the clubs recruitment, and my heartstrings,

Domineering official? Has Vic the Rebel overstepped the mark again?

Seriously I think the Pieman is just looking to stir shit up. Sure they might have a beef with an official (if it's true), but can anyone put their hand up and say they've always 100% liked who they work for/with? This sort of stuff happens all the time in workplaces, people just learn to deal with or address the behaviors. With the vague references to an official looks like he's just aiming a scatter gun of crap against the reading public and seeing what will stick.

Having said that, it's odd that he's been so specific with names in this article. Not usually the Pieman's style. He might have been right about Woody, and as much as I didn't want to believe it, I think it wasn't a state secret that he wanted to be an All Black. Don't think he'll be getting a Walkley award for that scoop.

Growden is such a twit.

He doesn't usually name names though. Might be a bit of something rumbling along there.

Yep. Whatever happens, happens.

Very few people work their entire careers with one employer, and sports professionals are no different.

Warning @daz don't read the following post

http://www.espnscrum.com/scrum/rugby/story/228509.html

Growden reckons Inman and English looking to jump ship.

Wouldn't usually believe anything the pie man says but he was on the money with Woodward could he be right again?
Every fucking time.......
I continually pledge I will never read that dross again.
Then someone puts up a link, and what to you know.
A feeling of self loathing for being weak, and the pledge is renewed again.

both inman and english are signed through the 2015 season (inman definitely and english quite sure).
I would be surprised about english, though to be honest the lack of attack has not seen a great deal of ball get out to the wing.
i know for a fact inman was weighing up offers from japan and france prior to re-signing and when i say weighing up, he was strongly considering them.
a player like inman would do very well in france and make much more money over there. it will be tough to keep him i think which is a shame cause he is one of my favorite rebels players.
i'd think english getting a sniff of the wallaby camp would keep him in aus at the very least. risk is he goes to either QLD or NSW though i wouldn't have thought there'd be much room up at NSW.
he is a good face of rugby down here and a exellent player. let's hope he gets a shot in the centres next year to keep him interested.
cam crawford would be a good signing as we need more wingers.

absent a better broadcasting deal (in the $40-$60M range, and hopefully closer to the $50-$60 mark than the $40) i think the ARU will struggle to retain players and have to look very hard at sabatticals to offload some costs or actually fold a team as they won't have the ability to fund all 5 and more fringe players will leave to europe/japan

If Inman leaves, we could have:

15. Crawford
14. Sau/Veunu
13. English
12. Harris
11. Kingston
10. Hegarty
9. Burgess

21. Stirzaker
22. Debreczeni
23. Veuinu/Sau

Which would be OK.

Both the Waratahs and Rebels have buyers approaching the ARU and negotiating deals. I think the ARU will be going down this path as much as possible in the future.

For the Rebels its the same consortium that owns Melbourne Storm and part of Melbourne City(Heart) what ever they are going by now. Have joint resources with Melbourne Storm would be a good thing, after all they did break into the Melbourne market and could help show the Rebels advertising the way.

Hope that the Rebels have realized they need to do more for the non-corporate rugby fans and stop focusing on just corporate ticket sales or they will lose the club.

Or if you like a play maker in 12:

9. Burgess
10. Hegarty
11. Kingston
12. Harris
13. Inman
14. English
15. Crawford

Both of which are better than okay.

That being said, where's the Crawford mail coming from?

that is goods news if true and sharing resources in terms of marketing, back office etc would be huge. not to mention the benefit of possibly sharing facilities in terms of training etc.
melbourne city FC who have somehow signed david villa for a ten match stint. incredible. as will the NRC be if they manage to get wilko for a few games as reported in the HUN

I posted a link to the article early this week in this thread, the NRC going for Wilko is a strange one. Yeah he will put bums in seats but it's also going to mean one youngster misses a opportunity to develop his game in a key role. What is the guidelines on Marquee players for the NRC?

KevinO, there's 4 teams in Sydney. The 2 front line 10 options (Foley & Beale) for the Tahs won't play. Already out of those 4 you have your 3rd choice 10 (Volavola?) who is possibly contracted. You also have another contracted 10, I forgot his name, is he EPS?

From there there's still 2 spots in Sydney alone, are we concerned that the 6th best flyhalf in NSW is going to miss out?

I understand where you are coming from, but even if the 6th best flyhalf plays NRC would this not benefit Australian Rugby? He would have gained some valuable experience to take back to Shute Shield the following year.

Is that improving Australian grass roots rugby, that's what I thought they where trying to do with the NRC.

Anyway Wilko is just a rumor at this stage so will wait and see.
