Did Hegarty take the ball to the line? Yep.
Did he let traffic through the 10 channel? No.
Were his kick options good? No.
Did he play a bit flat? Seemed so, but it could have been intentional because that play style suits JOC (James O'Connor) and Beales game who the gameplan was built around.

All in all, a good first game from him but certainly one to build from.

Can't tell you too much, but you are wrong!
Foley would be the single best signing the Rebels could have. We still need a 12 even if we get him though, but with him and the developing Hegarty we'd be very much set at 10.
If this happens let Cooper and Beale go, Foley seems like a better team player anyway and ticks all the corporate value boxes the Rebs are obsessed with.

Where is Kimami Sitauti playing his club rugby at the moment, is he coming back to Souths in Brisbane or will he go to one of the rebels feeder clubs in sydney?

Box Hill, played some trial games and 7s for them. Will probably go ITM or Brissy post-season I'd imagine (just speculation).

He looks promising and didn't look out of his depth. He'd be a good foil to Vuna in time, a true open side winger to Vuna's blind side.

not at 10, to cover either wing (for digby) or full back (johno lance)

I thought they would have had adequate cover for those position in people like Rob Davies and Mike Harris? I think they would probably be running into salary cap problems soon if they tried to snag another big name. You also can't help but think Richard Graham would still have in the back of his mind how the whole JOC (James O'Connor)/Force saga went down and may still be resentful over that.

In reality I see either JOC (James O'Connor) or Kurtley leaving, but probably not both.

i suspect that just like at the FORCE JOC (James O'Connor) will have recruitment requirements. if we can secure some quality players i think he will stay.

i think he is more likely to go to the force than the reds. he won't want to go near graham and foley has secured some very good talent lately.

I think he burnt a few bridges over here. Not sure how I'd feel about him coming back. He wins games but I'd much prefer to have one of your locks instead. JOC (James O'Connor) is all well and good but he won't do half as much if you lose around a quarter of your own line-outs.

Lucky we just re-signed Pyle and Neville for another two years :) Jones is about to re-sign too, if the Fairfax rag is correct. I can see why you want them, Pyle especially is having a great year and Neville was in the Wallaby extended squad at various stages last year.

Who are the Rebels options at hooker next year with Ged Robinson going back to NZ? And will they really miss Delve, Kingi or King that much?http://www.facebook.com/melbournerebelsofficial?hc_location=stream

Did James Hanson head to the Force? If so, Whittaker and Charles are both handy.

Siliva and Uglia are both signed, which is a shame on account of their Victorian heritage.

I don't think Leafa or Sexton will be starter quality until 2015 so we might just have to get creative.

Huia Edmonds might work or Ole Avei (who is Victorian raised). Maybe Damien Fitzpatrick if his medicals come good?

Also, lets keep in mind Ged is having a crack. He could go play ITM and not get the opportunity he wants (no doubt he'll be offered a contract but you wouldn't want to, say, be sitting behind Coles). So, he COULD quite feasibly come back but you wouldn't want to be putting pen to paper so late in the piece.

Hanson re-signed with the Reds.

I think there's a lot of room for a consistent hooker in NZ so I can see why Ged went that way. How long is Tessman signed for over there? He's started to play well once he got more than 10 minutes off the bench in a losing side.

Yeah, 80 minutes in a losing side really made him a superstar.

We could get in the market for another hooker from NZ but I'd rather we get more creative and hire from elsewhere.

The reality is we don't just need a promising hooker, we need a hooker who can play 60 minutes every week. Which apparently doesn't exist in Aus right now (they're all contracted).

Shit, I am really sorry to see Delve leave. I thought he appeared to be a great leader for the team and a player I always enjoyed watching on the tube.

I hope the whole KB (Kurtley Beale) thing didn't sour his time here and become a reason for him to leave.

I thin Gareth always planned to go back after this year. He was due to leave last year, but decided to extend his contract after his personal success and the team's success last year.

Not sure how the KB (Kurtley Beale) thing sat with him, but if you're whacked by one of your teammates do you think you could get over it? Perhaps when he's not contracted he may speak about it, although i think it's water under the bridge and best left in history.

Watching some youtube clips of Lahiff, he looks very athletic for a prop! 60 caps and he is only 23, i would be pretty excited with that if i were a rebel fan

Not sure if anyone saw this in the Rebel's press release today announcing the team:

All media are invited to attend the Rebels Captain's Run tomorrow morning from 10.45am at AAMI Park, with the Club to make an announcement regarding two key player re-signings.

I'll ask the obvious question and start the speculation on who they re-signings are. The term re-sign obviously means it's existing players, however it does seem rather positive they would underline the 'key' element.. My money is Jones being one of those; it was sort-of leaked in Fairfax papers last week and personally I think he deserves it. All in all a positive sign to retain our good talent.

Let the group speculation begin :)

Well, obviously not KB (Kurtley Beale) and JOC (James O'Connor) :D

Pretty sure Ben Whittaker is off contract. He has had a bit of a run of injuries, but when he was fit he could play 60 minutes every week. I don't think the Force will hold onto him because Charles is contracted and we'd be pretty happy keeping Tessman.
