The All Blacks call their "A" side the Junior All Blacks.

When they played at Canberra Stadium a few years ago a lot of people weren't going to the game because they thought it was an under 20's team or something.

I know that, that's what I said. I was asking which of those levels Woodward had played because someone said he was ruled out.

According to my research he's only played U20s and NZ, Aus, and SA don't tend to declare that as their A side like some of the Northern Hemisphere nations do.

Rokobaro has played an "A" game for Fiji, so not eligible for Aus is my understanding. I think that's why the TAHS let him go.

I think there is some contraversy as to what exactly his eligibilty is. From my understanding Rokobaro and a few other Fijian players participated in the game under the presumption that it was a Juniors game (u/20 I believe) when really it was being classifed by the IRB as an 'A' game. I think a few players were quite annoyed about this and were looking to get the cap removed, I do know that Rokobaro was offered a spot on the bench for Fiji in a full international in either 2010/11 and turned it down saying he still wished to represent Australia so obviously he still had hope of something being done to ammend his ineligibility. Not sure of the current status though.

I saw them both play Waikaido last week.

Fuglistaller is industrious but I don't think he's a better prospect then Jono Jenkins and he's not an Aussie.

Woodward is hugely talented but sometimes this kind of talent battles with the step-up when defensive reads are better.

From my research both could become 'naturalised' (in a rugby sense) with 3 years spent here. They've both played NZ age grade but no A or 7s (which is what splits them).

I'm not saying I want to see these kind of selections for Aus in the future, but it's nice to have the option in the cards fall right.

Confirmation from the Rebels today that BLK will provide the playing kit for 2012. It will be officially announced later in the year.

BLK are a KooGa sub-brand, so don't expect massive (any) changes to the kit.

Confirmation from the Rebels today that BLK will provide the playing kit for 2012. It will be officially announced later in the year.

Kooga and BLK share the same corporate address and even the same phone number...

Has to do with copyright, I think. KooGa don't own the KooGa brand everywhere they sell kit. BLK makes that easier.

I think this confirms a hooker is yet to sign for the full squad (or the return of Tessman). In my opinion having neither a rookie hooker or halfback in the EPS reflects bad squad planning on our part.

Also, no locals YET AGAIN! I nfact, with Johansson rumoured to be gone there's even less locals than last year. It's hugely disappointing to see blokes like Hardisty (Norths Sydney but Vic Jnr), Faalavaau (Endeavor Hills, 2012 Oz U20s & 7s), or others in the EPS.

There are 3 half backs in the main squad ,Phipps, Stirzaker and Kingi so no sense in having an EPS half. That's the Hardisty explanation
Faalavau is a contracted Oz 7s player and as such is ineligible for Super Rugby.
Believe the Rebels will run an apprentice program next year that will see at least 2 local players train full time with the main squad

They are two good acquisitions for an EPS.

Dyer is a typical Uni late bloomer: 23 y.o. 189 cms and 102 kgs - he'd be a 7 in Super Rugby but he played 6 in the Grand Final recently IIRR. He's strong over the ball and is fast linking up. A McCaw type of player.

Hair Bear Reid turns 21 in October is 182 cms and 105 kgs - he plays harder than his years would indicate. For Manly I have seen him play 7 and 8. I think it's likely that 8 would be his position down the track.

It's good to see form players in the Shute Shield being rewarded.

Silly of me to miss the fact that you'd written there was a hooker but if you're going to select an unheralded club hooker Melbourne Lesa has been unreal in Vic Club rugby and ACT Club rugby (the level that this bloke has been picked from).

As far as the halfbacks go, I stick by my point that this reflects poor planning. We shouldn't have 3 halfbacks in our squad. It just shouldn't happen.

With Faalavau, it's my understanding a Super Rugby contract can overrule a 7s contract. Or at least the 7s program is happy to let a guy go to pursue his dream.

An apprentice position just isn't good enough. The EPS spots are apprentice positions, how will you ever know if a bloke will cut it if you don't let them try? Ridiculous.

How is Chris Slade going?

Chris Slade is probably an excellent bloke and no doubt an excellent rugby player. However, he's spent 3 years in Victoria. The first one he was here he got a Rebels preseason game.

Giving him a crack was never really about trusting local rugby, a level which is improving all the time.
