The Weary dunlop lunches are run by the VRU not the Rebels. The rebels assist in the promotion of the event and Im pretty sure have no say in the guest speaker and are pretty pissed of by this selection.
To question the clubs values because of this is ludicrous. Balance this with the over 1000 hours of community work done by their playing group , more than double that done by any other super rugby team.
Thanks for that blues, genuinely had no idea. Relieved the Rebels aren't closely involved, but I think the criticism of the move still stands - only with the VRU in place of the Rebels.

What does everyone think of the draw?

Not happy with all the Friday night fixtures.

It's similar to the season 1 fixture.

Who's doing any away games? I'm down for Sydney, Perth & Canberra.

First thoughts are the second half of the draw is a lot tougher than the first. Early byes as well, but I guess that's to cater for the Lions. Only two games in South Africa is nice.

Not happy with all the Friday night fixtures.

Sunday the 18th of March was awesome this year. Sunny day, good beer and a live rugby game mid afternoon!!
I don't have wife and kids and live in Richmond so Friday fixtures work for me. If you work until 5/5.30 would like to go home/relax before the game or check in with wife/husband and kids I don't see this as workable

I'm hoping it's a non Friday match.

Canberra away in June on a Friday night is going to be freezing. Pricks.

Going through the fixture and working out points for matches if we keep improving on last season and take some bonus points on away games. I think we could challenge for one of the Conference runner up spots, but who knows what will happen.

Can the Brumbies be that competitive again?

Will the Reds challenge with the injury list they currently have long term, new coach.

Tahs with a new coach are dangerous, Cheika worked wonders at Leinster.

All I know is I think we should win at least 5 home games and would love to see 3 wins on the road. This won't quite get us to finals but it would have us close.

How good would it be to head to South Africa top of the table, 4 wins and a bye. It would be very possible with the start of the season fixtures the way they are. After all we would be a game ahead of the NZ and SA teams.

Depends if JOC (James O'Connor) gets back from injury. Key player, not good to be having hamstring injuries this early in career.

Depends more on where JOC (James O'Connor) plays, I think Beale need to play 10 and JOC (James O'Connor) 15. Mitchell/Inman was our best centers combo last season. Who the second winger will be is of interest as well.

My thoughts on the back line would be

9: Phipps
10: Beale
11: Vuna
12: Mitchell
13: Inman
14: ? (Woodward/O'Connor)
15: O'Connor/Woodward

Jason Woodward might be the Wing or Full back. Can't see O'Connor playing wing which would mean Mitchell would move to 14 with O'Connor at 12 which

With everyone fully fit I expect the backline to be

Phipps
Beale
Vuna
JOC (James O'Connor)
Inman
Mitchell
Woodward

Would prefer Stirzaker, but Phipps is pretty untouchable.

Been watching Woodward just then. Quality kicker, but in no means a replacement for Gerrard.

Kev had just advised me that Mardi Gras is on the weekend we play the Tahs in Sydney. Great!

There goes the pubs and hotels. That comment is by no means homophobic btw.

Kingi should come home and play halfback, where he belongs (at halfback that is) .

Inman and O'Connor are good foils for each other.

A centre combo of Mitchel and Inman has a tonne of hustle and will work their asses off, but it's not exactly creative.
