For anyone who wasn't there to witness....... This afternoon we bore witness to a display of athletiscism of the highest order. There was grace, precision and a certain masculine beauty on display. For anyone interested the GAGRtahs took the win 8-4. The Rebel Army allowed the New South Welshmen to get out to an early lead reminiscent of their namesake. Unlike the actual Rebels, they couldn't rally a comeback and claw back the deficit.
The Kurtley Beale memorial trophy won't be following the man himself over the border into Mexico but rest assured next years grudge match will be highly anticipated.
Good job to all who were involved organising. Rugby truly was the winner(cough, cough)

The slippery conditions hampered our silky skills somewhat so the boys played a fairly direct brand of footy.

We got away to a flying start with a try to me from about 150 metres out with maybe 10 to beat. We kept up the pressure and got to half-time 3-1 up. Some courageous defensive efforts on our own line was the difference in the first half. But you could see that some of our big men were struggling without any replacements. The free t-shirt gave us a big lift at half-time and we found 3 or 4 more players.

The second half saw a succession of tries to the GAGRTAHS from worked moves, countered by a brace of tries from some ridiculously quick guy from the Rebs. The game finished with young #1 Tah diving into the corner for our 8th try.

I'd give our best and fairest to ACT Crusader except as a Kiwi he's ineligible, and a cheat, so we might have to share it round as it was, truly, a team effort.

Big ups to Trav, Stu, Gav and the boys for suggesting the match and to Tah J for getting us the ground. The Kurtley goes to NSW this year but I hope you're back next year to have another crack at it.

Hey scarfman I wore the Tahs shirt (about 10 sizes too big for me) with pride....

Great stuff from the Melb guys (and girl) for turning up to play. Grease Lightning in the red boots out on the wing for the Army made the GAGRtahs look very very slow :)

Awesome effort by all the fullas

Was great fun to be a part of, was a textbook display of how the game should be played. Immense skill, speed and passion from all. Or something like that.

Thanks to the organisers and the Rebel Army. Looking forward to defending our title next year!

concur. i think everyone knew me. I don't exactly hide in the shadows...

Can someone tell me who there was playing? I knew of #1 Tah, RugbySmartArse, Scarfman, Matty K, ACT Crusader, Gooch, Panda and Jesus(who took the trophy without taking the field - claiming coaching) (prob forgot someone)

If more than 3 of our players knew touch rules, we might've been a chance...

Just remember - I propped up NSWRU today, playing for Hunters Hill.... ;)

In a sensational tactical move, TahJ put both our locks - barbarian and Jonnosan - on the left wing. It worked a treat, and they pranced through the Rebs D like gazelles through the savannah.

Photos to come - including Panda's "paper scissors rock" moment, and maybe even barbarian's try-scoring celebration.

... Only for their right winger to run through them and score 2 tries!!
