Given the section/paragraph is about Smith's captaincy, and lists the reasons why other previous captains are not captain this week, I think it's just rounding that off.
Tbh, I think it's more telling that they just listed his status as unavailable, as opposed to unavailable due to injury.

Tate is named on the bench which I think is the right thing to do to reward Khalani for having a great game last weekend.
Grim that we're not getting any of our injured players returning. If Bryant goes down we'll have a huge backrow which may struggle to keep Tizzano out of the game.

I'm less convinced. Uru is a great 6 and a more than adequate lock. Sure he can cover 7, but does he have sufficient dynamism/lateral movement to be a first choice 7?

in the presser last night Schmidt suggested a return by Campbell was imminent, and Paisami would be back this week, but Flook still some time away. Hopefully Faessler, Wilson, McReight & Fa’agase are all back. Would also like to see Nonggorr back in for De Lutiis. You can see De Lutiis is doing great work for a young THP but Nonggorr is a bit more developed as a player.
Their respective replacements have all been solid but really need our best possible teams on deck for the next two weeks and with the bye coming up.
One real point of interest for me is who gets the nod for the locks. I suspect Salakai-Loto and Smith will continue to start - although the lineout review will be telling.

I bumped into Nonggor last week, with nothing to base it on he looks pretty good. AS you say, our props have continued to be amazing.
Campbell is the blood of that backline. I wouldn't race him back but onto the bench asap.
We could really use the bump of our preferred back three.
WT actual F is going on in the line out? I'm not holding the hooker as primary cause here, seems something is happening around calling and organisation? On his own, the Fez can't fix that. If we don't fix it, we are toast even if being prepared from a lofty table position.
I'm really keen to see Flook back even though I've been chuffed with Daugunu in the centres again. I'm thinking maybe rest Junk Yard, Flook to his spot and Daugunu on a wing. When he (Flook) is ready. Ryan has hit second year blues and probably needs a bit of time and strength around him to re-light the mojo.

Sure. But is that all was happening? It seems to me they feel the need for those tricky dicky line outs and then get muddled. Little back to basics. All that conference stuff - normally the time is on the verge of the ref's patience but last night was just silly. Then only to completely fluff the thing.

Yeah - not really blaming Asiata as such and credit to the Force lineout. Williams & Swain seem to run a really good defensive lineout. I thought maybe a few times the throws were a bit low but generally it just seems they were picking it and were very quick to get their jumpers in the air. Fair play to them. Asiata has had some good moments, but I think Fez’s work rate would be a bonus.
After a less than auspicious start Murray has been solid at FB the last two games. Don’t want them to rush Campbell back before he’s ready but I do think he’ll add a fair bit.
I’d be inclined to keep Ryan and drop Anderson. Anderson seems a steady voice in the backline, but I’m happy enough with Ryan and how he’s going and he has a lot more upside. I’m not sure he’s too far off the pace - but it was always a big ask to continue his feats of last year.
