Lote's was written into his contract wasn't it? Or was it simply 3rd strike and you are out?

THis is Quade's 2nd strike, at least.
I would guess an illegal strike would be enough. I am no contracts lawyer, but plenty of work contracts have clauses about criminal convictions in them. I know mine do. Not wishing it on him, and I hope an innocent explanation ensues, but if not his chances look slim.

As for Wycliff Palu- Ewen McKenzie and that St George Coach found out the full story of the incident and were actually beyond pleased to have him. I actually believe Palu's case there his friend was being picked on by the police. Now this isn't about my attitudes towards the police but Cooper's actions were not those of friendship they were those of stupidity, and pure arrogance.

so i guess you know what exactly happened then?

one of my gripes in life is people jumping to conclusions about stuff they know nothing about, although im sure in Palu's case im sure the families of every potential victim on the roads that day were more then happy it happened since it was for the sake of one of his mates.

From the Telegraph

Wallaby Quade Cooper charged with burglary

WALLABY and Queensland Reds star Quade Cooper has been charged with burglary after an alleged break-in on the Gold Coast.

The 21-year-old flyhalf was arrested in a backyard at Budds Beach near Surfers Paradise after the door of a house, rented by two foreign university students, was allegedly kicked in and a laptop computer taken.

A police source said officers used capsicum spray to subdue Cooper during the 4am arrest but a police spokeswoman would not confirm this. Another source said the students came home to find their house had been broken into and rang police.

The students, from Colombia and Turkey, had no idea they had allegedly been burgled by an Australian sports star until told by police. The students would not comment when The Courier-Mail - The Daily Telegraph's sister paper - visited their Palm Ave home, saying they were yet to give official statements to police.

Cooper was charged with one count of burglary and was bailed to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday. He made no comment when he was released from the Southport watch-house.

Queensland Rugby Union media manager Paul Reid said the Reds wanted to know more of the details before making any official comment. "We haven't spoken to Quade yet so we don't know his side of it,'' he said.

He said it was too early too speculate over whether the star back would be disciplined by the Queensland Reds Super 14 rugby club. Earlier this year, Cooper was fined $10,000 by the Australian Rugby Union for breaking the
window of a taxi in a skylarking incident outside a Brisbane nightclub.

Cooper recently returned from a breakthrough Wallabies tour, where he played all four Tests in Australia's grand slam quest. His form was one of the few bright spots on an inconsistent Wallabies tour and he was praised for finding a new level of maturity in his game as he replaced the injured Berrick Barnes at inside centre.

Cooper is currently on holidays and was scheduled to return to pre-season training with the Reds in January. ARU and QRU officials are likely to await the outcome of Friday's court appearance before jointly deciding on any action against Cooper, such as standing him down.

ARU boss John O'Neill has previously taken a dim view of player misbehaviour. He rubber-stamped the sacking of Western Force halfback Matt Henjak in February last year after he was involved in a fight with a team-mate.

And Mr O'Neill tore up the contract of Wallaby winger Lote Tuqiri this year for reasons both refused to disclose.

New Zealand-born Cooper moved to Brisbane when with his family when he was 15 and was snapped up by the Australian Rugby Union-funded National Talent Squad. He debuted for the Reds in 2007 at the age of 18 in just his first year out of school and made the Wallabies team last year, scoring a try in his maiden Test, against Italy.

Are we allowed to comment yet TOCC?

Are we allowed to comment yet TOCC? :lmao: :lmao:

The only person jumping anywhere here is Cooper hoofing it out the window and over a few fences when the Cops arrived. 4am ? he must have been on some sort of juice.. He could claim the jetlag was real bad, I guess.

P.S. That photo from the station is priceless.. Are we to assume that is what he was wearing when trying to rob some international students

Up to Gagger's post I was sure that this was going to turn out as a non-financial burglary, i.e., stealing something personal, e.g., a ring he gave an ex-girlfriend he caught cheating or something.

But there you go. He is the complete idiot we suspected he was.

Perhaps Quade thought G&GR and its denizens who, at some stage, may have made fun of his tacking skills and haircut etc, actually resided in the computer (being very small). He may have just wanted to take everyone out for a late night beer and kebab to settle the misunderstanding.

Ban him for life.

The other question is, what is on the Laptop?

Nothing possibly embarrassing that he wanted to get back?

Has to be. He could phone up any laptop provider and get a free laptop sponsored any time.

The other alternative is that he was on something other than alcohol and not really "himself".

They all sound like bad scenarios though and I genuinly hope that there is some explanantion behind this that doesn't destory his career. 21 is too young for his rugby career to be over.

Prety sad to read all this. I take no delight in the fact that his career may be over. I watched him on a number of interviews and he came across as a young bloke who just wanted to play footy. Clearly he was pissed (are on some sort of chemical) when this incident happened. I remember Cam Sheperd fucked up a few cars in Sydney when pissed as well. Some blokes just shouldn't drink.

A good number of reasonable posts here, but some of you guys are borderline 'wowsers'. In another time that kind of mentality had people burning 'witches' at the stake and joining lynch mobs in the deep south.

Whatever the outcome, this is a tragic story, but we shouldn't be too quick to pass judgement without all the facts. There just may be some extenuating circumstances...or not. Let's wait and see.

Like Spook I hope he hasn't cruelled his career.

Judging from Gaggers clip there we might be better off without him - I had forgotten what a really great fool he can be - and among fools he is really talented

Pretty much gobsmacked. If he's guilty, then I also think that it's career over (at least, rugby career in Australia). Don't forget he was also reprimanded for the "food fight" incident, among others. This would surely be at least the third strike.

Although, why the hell would a highly paid sportsman steal a laptop off some international students? I can only think of several reasons, most already said:
1) it had something on it (incriminating, or otherwise)
2) Cooper was on something (more than alcohol, I'd guess)
3) mistaken identity (not likely by the sounds, infact pretty much definitely not)

Completely bizarre.

Link had better start planning his seasons without Cooper now, as it looks pretty likely that he will be gone.

This is crazy.

The article seems to imply that he was arrested in the same yard that he stole the computer from? If so, how did the police get there so fast? Was Cooper passed out, using the laptop as a pillow? Maybe that is all he wanted it for - must have looked comfy.

If the police arrested him somewhere else, then how did they know who stole the computer, considering it is unlikely these international students would recognise him?

There must be a lot more of this story to come out.
