Somehow, I think not (Reds beating Crusaders).

Regarding Davies, we already knew he was quick and flakey on defence. I was impressed with his front on defence against the Tahs. But what was glaring to me is how he fell off his first attempted tackle to nearly allow the Tahs to score. I suspect his front on defence is fine, but his tackling from the side (around the legs or otherwise) is still flakey.

Tranquility, i think there are still plenty of questions if you watched his 2008 performances, i think everyone is just hoping that he has improved significantly on last year

I have watched him play a lot of schoolboy footy for IGS in very good company - the kid is a freak.

Genia likely to be skipper???

Hmm, don't know if I'd go with that. I'd consider Hardman, Daley or Morgs over Will, just to keep his game free. He's playing so well relying on instinct at the moment, let's not burdon him with leadership requirements

I'd like to see Turinui as skipper, but I'm assuming that Genia will get the nod. He is probably the only guaranteed starter out of the options available.

they didnt rule him out for a set time, considering they were still considering playing him on tue/wed i think he should be right to play, however link might want to play it safe and give him another week on the sidelines.

Hardman will be pushing it to break 150 caps this year, however caps arent just Super14 caps, they are all QLD caps, so if QLD were to play another match post S14 season this would count towards his overall tally.

Genia is the man for the captain's job. Very impressive speaker. Cool, calm and mature. Has that steely eyed glare.

Taken from Mark Oberhardts column in the Courier Mail this morning!

FRIDAY night provided one of the great stories of Queensland rugby union on the field. Off the field things weren't so good with stories spreading like wildfire about the code's financial situation. There is no doubt it is very grim and some very high losses were being thrown around. The QRU needs two things – support from the ARU and a revitalised board. QRU officials were in Sydney on Friday seeking help. Popular Will Colwell has resigned from the board because of business commitments while two other current board members are known to be considering standing aside. It would be a perfect time to co-opt some new blood such as Richard Barker, Paul McNichol, Vicki Wilson etc. The ARU should also be protecting its main player nursery and not let it rot on the vine.

You have to win games to get the crowd and we haven't won a lot of games! No crowd - no money.

Paying rent on 30000 empty seats is not a good thing, if crowds stay at around 20000, then move to a smaller stadium, either Ballymore or if it is a QLD team not a Brisbane team then look at Skilled Park (even if just to get a better deal by scaring Lang Park)

Hopefully the QLD Government can just give Ballymore a few Million to add a few seats here and there, and fix up a few areas of the stadium. This financial loss will probably see the Reds back to Ballymore for all season matches except the finals if they make it.

I think Suncorp is around $50,000 (?) per game, so it would be a fairly big save moving back to Ballymore.

I seem to remember that the breakeven point for games at Suncorp was at approx 17,000 people showing up. It is because of the cost of catering.

Now if games were moved back to Ballymore, and you had 17,000 people there every game, the place would be a fortress.

The problem is money. Sponsors have stated that the corporate hospitality facilities at Ballymore are embarassing, and have threatened to pull the pin if they go back there.

The next problem is that the QRU have no money that is needed to improve the facilities, both from a safety aspect (as the stadiums are in dire need of maintenance) as well as upgrading corporate hospitality, general public and player facilities.

Then on top of that, the local residents along with the local and state politicians have gotten their noses in there and are virtually opposing everything that the QRU wants and needs to do to keep Ballymore viable. Ballymore seems to be in real danger of being closed permanently.

Basically, they need money; neither the ARU or the Government are too interested in giving them any, the local residents want to block any ways that they can make any from Ballymore and because of 5 years of gross under performance on the field, combined with the rape of the playing stocks, the rugby public do not want to fork out the cash to see them play, further exasperating the situation.

So until the QRU finds a wealthy benefactor who will bankroll the $15 odd million dollars they need to get back to Ballymore, the best thing they can do for themselves is to keep winning at Suncorp for another two or three years.

I have $10 that I could afford to kick in to the "Bring the Reds back to Ballymore Fund"

I think a move to the Gold Coast for at least some games could be a good move, surely QR can organize a free train non stop from Milton to Robina so at least you dont have to stop all the time. Robina only holds 25k so it is around the right size for current crowds.

I wonder if the crowds would be better with cheaper tickets? From the look of TV the cheap seats behind the post (upper tier) are closed at both of the games. This is where I usually sit, on the second deck behind the posts.

Surely if catering is the issue then lower ticket prices with increased crowds will allow the caterers to make money and the overall ticket prices will remain the same.

I wonder if Krudd would be able to see his way to fixing Ballymore as a stimulus package?

I don't understand how people continually believe that a 17,000 crowd at Suncorp will mean a 17,000 crowd at Ballymore?

Ballymore is such a bitch to get to, especially compared to Suncorp.

You play a Cheetahs game at Ballymore and youd struggle to get 10,000 I reckon. Unless the Reds keep winning.
