Here's the breakdown for one club as an example, excluding the actual registration fee:

Insurance$57.08
Injury Fund$36.92
QRU$55.00
QPR$33.00
TOTAL$182.00

Add the transaction fee of 2% and its $185 before the club gets anything directly.

I'm assuming the "RA Participation Fee" is wrapped up in the QRU cost somewhere. Subbies in Sydney pay that as a $1000/grade system and are tasked with getting the money back from players.

It's the same thing I think Pfitzy. RA collect and distribute to the state unions. When it was introduced QRU agreed to set a price and put their name to it, while NSWRU wouldn't. In NSW, the RA Participation fee goes to NSWRU anyway

The $150ish discrepancy between some clubs is interesting.

Brother’s obviously know they can charge a bit extra as they’ve been winning. I reckon most Filth colts also have the bank of mum and dad paying or assisting with the club fees, which again I reckon the club knows they can charge a premium.

All clubs strive to have a great colts coach program, Morgan appears to have destroyed a program and any momentum the club had for years, is he the problem?

I’ve actually heard some good feedback about Morgan as a coach recently.

What is interesting though as I’ve mentioned a few times is I’ve heard a few key sponsors are more aligned with Garrick than with South’s as a club. Which is why it seems he is getting some leeway to operate and hire/fire coaches as he see’s fit as the club don’t want to lose that coin.

Sorry what? SS clubs are charging punters $20 a person for amateur rugby - if that's true, that's genuinely cooked.

And that scenario only works if 2-3k punters are showing up every week and somehow deciding to pay that much money. Only Norths, Bond and maybe GPS could fit =>3k with the space they have on the perimeter - and even then they'd need to put up grandstands and the like as people wouldn't be able to see the ground standing/ sitting behind each other (which is another cost). The rest of the clubs are probably capped out at < 2k.

And then I suppose the next thought is - if that's an option to raise an additional $400-600k and using that money to buy the best players in the comp, why aren't clubs already doing it on mass? I know some clubs pay players but none would be at that level. Don't think the logic holds.
It has been $20 entry at Randwick for at least 5 years now

Depends on what the club provides in the package.

Some include shirts socks pants training gear where others sell this separately

The big cost for most clubs is the medical and strapping / physio service. eg UQ is all inclusive for any strapping used etc, other clubs levy it at $10 per use.

Are there any clubs who don’t provide the basic socks, shorts and warmup kit in their basic fee levy?? Surely not.

I’ll concede something like a match jersey at the end of season may not be included in the cheaper ones. I know back in the day at GPS, only players who won premierships kept their jersey for free at season end.

All supply basics while some have an extensive kit

Many moons ago, we had Physio / Med students do our strapping.

Playing 3rd - 5th Grade meant you had a 50/50 shot of the strapper still sobering up from Friday night

Still fairly common from what I understand (both the sobering up part and the use of students).

Lots of clubs still use final year physio students as their Colts and Grades team dedicated physios who can assist with strapping and training/gameday injury management.

Physios very hard to find for game days here in Sydney. We pay overs for ours. If you want a fully qualified Sports Trainer, good luck fighing Rugby League for that.

In financial terms it is taking a potato to a gun fight.
