Bros have Shipperley in the Reds and Kimami Sitauti and Greene in Qld A.

I think Andrew Coady is still running around in Premier Grade and should achieve 200+ first grade games. Bit perplexing how he never got a go with Qld.

Any noticeable players at Wests, SX? Is peter uebergang still playing or has he gone to University?

Do you know something we don't @FilthRugby?

Souths depth runs right through their grades though im pretty sure. Not saying the lower grades necessarily contribute as much to Prems form but i'm fairly sure they made the top 4 right from Reserves down to 5th grade last year?

The last few years GPS Prems have made finals they've also won multiple lower grades premierships so that is a good indication that it does help to have that depth.

No I don't TD, with Sef and the other bloke going to Uni, I thought another quality player from Wests might have left.

I am actually surprised Waita is out UQ as I heard that he had originally gone to Souths.
Uebergang played on the weekend and made a strong return from what was an injury ravaged 2013, he will be integral to the Dogs pack I imagine.

Yeah Uuebs played in reserve grade.

There is some X factors in the Wests back line... Real shame that Greeney wanted no part of it.

Will be an interesting battle between Setu & Mitchell for the UQ #7 jersey...

Probably not. If Mitchell's form continues from last year I'd be surprised to see him playing much Premier Rugby given how extensive the Aussie 20s selection process/games/RWC/aftermath is. In previous years the 20s have only been cleared to play a handful of games.

If Setu played an 8 that would surprise me because it would mean unseating Matt Arvier who is the longstanding incumbent who usually makes way for Browning in some capacity.

Very interested to see what young talents emerge this year. With Gunn, Placid and Greene last year, I'm excited to see if any 2013 graduates can make a name for themselves the way those three did. What sort of availability will Easts see from Wilkin this year? Does his injury (shoulder?) rule him out for the year?

Of a squad of 28, i'd imagine there are only 2x specialist openside flankers taken to the JRWC? With Gunn currently playing QLD A, it would mean both selections to come from QLD if Mitchell was selected also?

Nice depth in the state if this is the case!

SOTG - Wilkin will be back on the park in late April apparently.

Will be interesting to see how he goes at Prem level - he's obviously very talented but he's not that big. He's a lot slighter than Gunn.

It will be interested to see how Greene goes at Brothers having the responsibility of directing them around the paddock rather than just kicking drop and penalty goals! I think he will have a lot of traffic coming his way in 2014. Greene's drop goal at Bottomley in 2013 when his side was down by 20 was a season highlight of mine!!!

Easts have just posted on their website that that have 1,000+ juniors registered to play in 2014.

This is a record for the club.

Bill Pulver will be ringing his hands together at the ARU just counting how many teams that is!!

The Force A lost to Fiji Warriors yesterday, which from a very selfish Easts perspective is not good news with the final of the Pacific Rugby Cup set down for 23 March 2014, the day after the Tigers take on Sydney Uni.

The points table for Pool A is currently - will be cheering for the Warriors to down Junior Japan by 63+ points. P PD BT BL POINTS

POOL A

Reds A P3; PD71; PTS11
Force A P3; PD49; PTS10
Fiji Warriors 2; 9; 6
Junior Japan 2; -129; 0

It is actually after this week if you knew the process.

I do know the process, actually - do YOU?

Post the two U20 Championships, an Australian U20 squad will be selected to participate in a National Training Camp at Bond University on the Gold Coast 22 April-4 May 2014. Plans have been put in place to include an International U20 Tournament within this camp period to again provide valuable international competition exposure. This training camp/tournament will provide national U20 selectors with the program to finalise selections of the 28 player Australian U20 Team to contest the 2014 iRB Junior World Championships in New Zealand, between 1-21 June.

So the Australian squad won't be finalised until after the National Training Camp in April/May. Even then there will be some players kept on standby in case of a last-minute injury, and the ARU will be monitoring training and workload of those on standby.

I do appreciate your condescension though.

I hear quite a few are injured and out of the QLD u20 side. Connor Mitchell (back), Jack Cornelson (ankle) and Jake McIntyre (hammy) will all not recover in time for u20 championships please others that got ruled out earlier. Gunn, Greene, Gale and Placid are all dropping back to the u20s and subject to fitness should play this Friday night against Junior Japan, which is the last hit out before the championships.

Thanks for that - if I read in to the top couple of lines from that quoted item, there might still be a chance for the injured players to get in front of selectors at the camp in May.

(Geez it'd be a shame if players missed out on a tournament in June because they were injured in March!)
