Certainly some confusion!!

I think the QRU might pushing towards a 3 team Premier Club model long term and not really worrying about the lower grades etc?

Premiers
Premier Reserves
Premier Colts

Building a really strong competition for these 3 grades which will in turn be healthy for QRU moving forward.
This may mean in future there may be the likes of Logan, Redcliffe etc eligible if they can field 3 competitive sides in these grades as opposed to the whole required grades set up to qualify???
Maybe increasing to a 12 team comp or something? Spreading the talent out as there are plenty of 1st graders.... sorry I mean Premier Reserve graders, who are definitely up to Premier standards, but due to the traffic above them at certain clubs, they don't get a regular run.

Just a thought....

On a side note, the full draw is out:

I think you will find that if Colts play Grades it has to be Premier Grade otherwise they have to go back to Prem Colts - i.e. they can't play in reserve grade.

I think this was the case a few years ago TT but I believe in 2012 Brothers played one of their Premier Colts props in a reserve grade semi-final which in turn opened up a can of worms. I remember because the following week in the 2nd grade grand final GPS had 3 premier colts blokes play and this was allowed.

Sorry I shouldn't say "not really worrying about the lower grades etc"

I mean (the new) 1st Grade (old 2nd grade), will play in a Subbies type comp. e.g. maybe vs Everton Park, Pine Rivers, Brisbane Irish etc.

Obviously splitting some clubs up on game day, which may be hard for those that struggle with numbers, but could be handy in helping out clubs on Premier away game days, bar takings etc.

Make sure every venue has games on each Saturday!

Oh wait... referees??

This is unfortunately why mungo ball is the preferred code. I know most things have improved dramatically under the current QRU administration but spurning the weekend battler could have some long term repercussions. Especially considering most clubs rely heavily on the rego fees of the 70+ players that lower grades brings in to survive.

Filth - given Will Genia will probably never play club rugby again, possibly his brother Nigel shouldn't either!!! (Wait for the backlash on this comment.)

I know Will was registered with the Stingrays last year, before that wasn't he with Norths and then we've heard about his issues at GPS before that. Did he ever play at Wests?

Being a BBC old boy I would have thought he would have played for Wests before making the natural progression to Uni!!! (sorry SX & TD!!!)

Hahaha TT that could give Coach Heenan the chance to bench him in favour of the incumbent for a second time.... Don't think he'll ever go near a Heenan-coached team again.

He lives over in Tiger territory though.

Wait, wait, wait, why did you put an "ET" against Lachie Turner's name, TT? Surely not!!!

Nothing gets past you Mr Filth - yes I was trying to do this with some subtlety but as I predicted back in Sept 2013 Lachie Turner will be registered to play in a Cromwell ET jersey this year. It's a bit academic though given no one will get much QPR time from their Reds this year.

Where are you hearing this from TT? If this is true, regardless of availability to play club rugby, it would be good to see him down at the Den with the other reds guys supporting a couple of times this year.

SOTG - it is a very reliable source. Quirkie & Aidan have always been very supportive of the Tigers whilst involved in the Reds and I'd say they'll bring Turner down to the Den when the opportunity presents.

Totally agree about Quirkie and Aiden. Let's hope their love for Tigers wears off on Turner.

On another note, good to see two tigers, Jarrad Butler and Ben Mowen (yes he's a tiger) suit up for the Brumbies on Saturday. Great opportunity for JB to make his mark down south and against the Reds of all teams.

Suffice to say I'm excited for the weekend marking the start of the Rah-Rah season in Aus.

If you're claiming Mowen then Butler has to be a Breaker. In fact they are both former Tigers now.

As you should be SOTG. The fact is they are former Tigers as they no longer play for the Club.

If Ben Meehan has a great season this year at the Rebels he will be a former Dragon.

I think he will be good if he gets a few chances and you should follow and be proud of guys who play/have played for your club.

Granted Butler only played 2 seasons for the Tigers but whilst at the club he showed what a great human being he is - Reds were crazy to let him go surely at this stage of his career he's ahead of Browning. He was given the community award at theReds last year - given his character I wouldn't have let him go. He'll thrive at the Brumbies.

And Ben Mowen has been a Tiger since he was born and has probably come out and watched about 10 games over the last few years and even ran the water with his good mate Dave Lucas.

We can't expect other clubs to understand the Easts culture (every club is different) but once a Tiger (@any grade) always a Tiger.

Don't worry Ben Meehan will be fine under "former" Tiger Tony McGahan.

Happy to accept the 'former tigers' tag. Very excited though to see a current tiger (Quirkie) go head to head with a former tiger (JB) on Saturday night.
