First time I have seen BBC this season.
I take my hat off to their defence coach (Mr Kefu?)-that defence is actually an offensive weapon.
Whether that defence can handle Mr Walker & his slick IGS backs or the monster TSS forward pack-I am not sure.
I can see why the RL clubs are drooling over BBC 13 -he hits with the force of a small train.
BGS were all heart.
The new RL boys 10,12^& 13 for BGS(who I was told are from Keebra Park) looked like RL boys playing rugby for the 3rd time-but they will be real good next year.

^Don't forget the 40 something points per game that Nudgee are putting on the board a well

Just out of interest Jack besides the flying hit with no arms ( that you reference above ) what else particularly did you like?

Sad to say , but there isn't much you gee up can take by beating up on a team like that . Also sad to say , they are a long way from last year's team featuring Tuimavave, Davies, Skerman , Waight and Asi. No one on this team is close to that quality. At least yet.

I wish them the best but I can't see them winning a game this year.

Credit to the Cardiac Kids......otherwise known as the Gregory Terrace First XV for a bold showing at Ross Oval on Saturday.

I say the Cardiac Kids as they now have had 3 games that are within a rosary bead of a win.

5 or 6 unforced, easy handling errors have been the main culprit - but a lack of defensive desire in a few spots and a non existent set piece haven't been far behind.

But set piece aside .....if not for say half a dozen handling errors and some ordinary defensive efforts in a few small patches - they might have had 2 wins from their first 3 games.

Will be interesting to see how they can finish their season out

So, any early thoughts for next week?
Home teams listed first:
TGS VS TSS....far away from the shark tank against angry country lads
GT VS BSHS..could be a big dog fight
BGS vs ACGS...probably the battle for the wooden spoon..hard to tip
IGS vs NC..game of the round. It should be a heck of match, very physical. IGS will be about as pumped up as a team can possibly get

TGS v TSS - TSS by 30
GT v BSHS - hardest to pick. GT by 3. Home ground advantage.
BGS v ACGS - ACGS by 7
NC v IGS - NC by 3. Will be a cracking game.

I actually liked the line speed of the whole BBC team. As I say I have only seen them play once-and TSS 2x.

Tipping was pretty simple this week.

TSS and BBC were the best backed with 98% tipping them, 95% tipped NC and 90% having faith in the former miners kids.

Should be much harder this week.

Also I made a slight change to my process so hopefully no mistakes this week, sorry again Roberts Rugby (it really isn't a Nudgee thing ;))

Nudgee and TSS will both get real tests over the next two rounds. For four teams the season is still alive.

BGS v ACGS - ACGS by 7
NC v IGS - NC by 3. Will be a cracking game.

From watching the IGS v TGS game on doubletake I don't think NC will have any trouble with IGS.
IGS at times in the first half resembled an undisciplined rabble. On occasions the ref gave TGS 5 or 6 penalties in a row culminating in a yellow card. TGS led 13/0 at 1 stage and gave up a gift penalty or two.
Schools like TSS qnd NC will destroy Ippy if they keep up that indiscipline. They have a few talented individuals who cut Tmba up in the 2nd half when Toowoomba's defence fell apart. Also the lineout throwing from TGS was appalling with at least 4 throws sailing over everyone into the hands of an Ippy loose forward at the back.

Pffff. The only "money" lineout and scrum after the first 3 rounds has been TSS. Everything and everyone else is about degrees of poo despite some of the more fancied playing supposed set piece specialists. But look at Terrace ......they probably have the worst set piece after 3 rounds yet have been within 1 score in 2 of their 3 games , and in the other one .........also would have been in the same territory if not for 2 x knock ons over the line or with the line wide open within 5 minutes from half time.

You can't say Nudgee are good things when they are leaking 30 points against Terrace at home and from memory allowed more points to BSHS ( 21 ) then Ipswich ( 14 ) and TSS did ( 7 )

Something is wrong with that picture

Re : Ipswich.........cool , they were down 13-0 and then went on a 46-5 tear. For teams that have defensive issues .........Ipswich are going to find you out and where and how to make you bleed. A lot. They may or may not beat all 3 of NC, BBC and TSS - but I am definitely backing them to win 1 of those games , and are 50/50 to take out 2 of those 3 targets. Don't forget how Ipswich put the fear of God into TSS last year with an inferior team and where TSS arguably had a superior team ....with Sam Walker absolutely picking them apart at will in broken field and phase play pressure build up

Everyone gets impressed with superficial shit. If they are really honest about it - Nudgee won the last 2 years , because when it came down to it , their defense was better than everyone else's . Let the record show for 2 x consecutive years they allowed way fewer points than the rest of the competition. Some might even call it miserly.

Defense wins.

The rest makes for nice highlight reel puff pieces

I think these fixtures coming up are danger rounds for IGS and Nudgee. Nudgee's flair in the backs has allowed for some impressive tries and will tear any side apart if they aren't prepared. However, their biggest let down is probably their inconsistency through defence in the full 70. look at the tss v nudgee game they dominated the first half but fell away near the end, same goes for the game on the weekend. Size ain't the greatest thing if you are looking to play the full 70.

Nah disagree with you there. The TSS game TSS must of had over 65-75% of the ball and deserved to win, however doesn't say a lot about their attack and a fair bit about NC defense in that game.

The GT game is always a bit of a closer affair then other games and usually closer than expected. GT find a little bit extra and for some of the game, their "smaller" forwards actually put it to NC and were winning the contest. The more worrying point for mine is NC inability (particularly in that game) to run straight. On numerous occasions the whole back line just crabbed side-wards instead of hitting the line, trying to make outright breaks/half breaks and looking for the offloads. They were too easy to picked-off. And their defense was a classic "wait and see" approach (wait for them, which hardly ever works, unless your outnumbered), which gave GT room to move. They gotta get back to being in the oppositions faces and inline and wacking the attack.
