Think you will find after next year it will become NC v TSS x 3 , bit like SOO .

BBC heading in a different direction come 2021, new HM and all . Robotics though looking very strong .

Hey do not knock our robotics team -that just came back as world champs. New HM(From NSW)says this is the direction of the future.

Heard today that out of 35 games scheduled to be played between NC and GT tomorrow that only 10 will have contested scrums.

It will be a massive blow to Nudgee and it will be interesting to see how they will adapt to this. However i still think the blue and white will prevail.
Even if that is the case, I don’t think this will have too much effect on the lads. We have a couple of decent goal kickers and playmakers. Pasitoa hasn’t been overly impressive for the last 2 games.

Close but not quite correct - 13 games will have contested scrums - 1's, 2's, 16A and then A & B's in the lower grades. Have heard rumours that some 2nd XV games have been played with uncontested scrums this year? If so that is a little disappointing considering that these players may then bench (and if necessary contest scrums) for the 1st xv .... can anyone confirm?

Serious?

Who are you?

Doubt even the DOR’s would know those stats tonight.

Have not seen either of these schools shy away from playing rugby.

You will not see an uncontested scrum tomorrow at Nudgee that is without due cause .

Would be nice to think all played rugby with the same integrity.

Yes they certainly do! Each week in the the email containing the team lists Terrace sends out the list of matches which will feature contested scrums - the earlier version sent around had 14 A/B and 12B with contested scrums as well to add to the ten listed below - but that obviously has changed. Apologies KFC you appear to be correct!:(

Can anybody tell me what the official reason is for BGS not allowing streaming of their 1st XV games (no BBC vs BGS games streamed this weekend)?

I think you are right-and at a very robust GPS Dir of Sports meeting last week -the same message was conveyed . From next year on there is great concern that it is simply a race for 3rd behind NC/TSS.

But really is that any different from tennis (BBC/BGS) or rowing (NC/TSS) or swimming (BGS/TSS)? Once gain the safety factor/mercy rule was mentioned
We cannot let our 100 year history become like NSW 6 team comp.Solutions?

BGS Headmaster protecting his students from exploitation is a guess. I certainly don’t think any grammar old boys will want to be watching it.

Huh. So kind of like an overprotective parent who’s zeal for keeping the big bad world at bay may actually be detrimental for the child. That makes sense I guess.

Garry Owens

Alan Cameron (40)
Or just a sensible leader who doesn’t want his students to get caught up in the over hyped environment of schoolboy rugby.

I do understand the view - assuming that is his view , but the hype around it all exists with or without his refusal to let games be streamed in which BGS Firsts play in

So not sure what he’s actually achieving

Believe they need permission from both schools - otherwise BGS would have had games streamed in the past

This is true. Both schools need to sign off on the stream for it to go ahead.

DoubleTake have streamed at far more difficult venues than Northgate. Technical issues are not the reason BGS hasn't been streamed.

I respect a principled decision, but I think they are wrong and its just a bit of a shame really. Plus I'm salty because I can't watch my team :)

I do want to say right now....Doubletake are awesome and what they are doing is making so many fans all around the world happy watching their schools play. Can not say how much their work is appreciated. Gone from 1 or 2 games per round 3 years ago to what could be complete coverage today. Loving the commentary too. Do you guys have a FB page?

Hopefully BGS will allow coverage next year.
