I would have loved to have seen Parata play Australian schoolboys with pasitoa at inside centre
I don’t know if Parata would have got the 10 and I think we will see Pasitoa in the bench

Well done to Gideon Wrampling in his efforts for NZ schools last Monday, he was regularly their go to man against Baa-baas and easily one of the best on ground for the day's rugby .

He made a number of junior rep teams from U12 onwards while here in Brisbane, gaining selection in the Qld U16 White team last year plus First XV for BSHS.

Would his rugby got to were it is if he was still in Australia?

I saw Gideon play last year and then again for NZ schools this year, in the space of a year his game and his confidence has grown a whole heap... so the short answer to your question is no it wouldn't have.
His spatial awareness and the sharpness of his passing game stand out as improvements for me as well as his confidence under the high ball in the air and support play...he went from being not quite a standout in Qld last year to a key member of the NZ schools team, we must be looking at different things here or things differently

Rumour mill at this time of year is saying a few more boys with NZ connections looking at the move through NZ Schools making approaches, again they may not be standouts but with the right development could be something special

BTW - If you watched NZ Schools V Aust Schools, how good was that NZ fullback, he must of been the smallest bloke on the field but he had serious game - I heard someone in the ground say in NZ if you are good enough your are big enough and if he was in Australia the boy would not even be looked at or he would've be converted to halfback because of his height seemed like this person might know a thing or two about Aust rugby judging by the Kit he was wearing apparently from schoolboys upward each rugby position have a height, wieght template that give selectors a guide as to what they should be looking for

Great news to see Phrancis from our Nudgee First XV included in the team for the tour. A solid prop will bring great strength to the team. I thought the Aus team played well in consideration of the wet conditions which the NZ players are used to. Gordon’s kicking was spot on. Jeans distribution was spot on. Tautau was a great impact. Pity we didn’t see the other Nudge boys on for more than 10 mins. Good job Lads.

Pinetree,

Agree totally with your assessment of the NZ #15, good enough should equal big ( & old ) enough this side of the ditch.

We are way too focused on size here , players been given weight goals by coaches in the Aussie Schools system and using the excuse of not being big enough for non selection is ridiculous . Would love the feed back to young players especially to be more skill set based and what is needed for improvement , rather than size.

Biggest doesn't always mean best.

Interesting enough Aussie School Boy flanker Herbert from Downlands Toowoomba, was told by the Reds Under 20's squad that he was not big enough, so he jumped on the plane headed for NZ and is now been selected for the All Black U20's, we really do have some issues in this country.

^ and I'll bet he has been causing all sorts problems for opposing teams at the breakdown with his mobility.

Saw him play a handful of games last year , plays like a genuine 7 should , no doubt his ability to be a constant "on ball" threat has more to you with his footy brain/ intuition and competiveness rather than size.

So if our Reds talent and high performance professionals make such critical errors, how do they retain their jobs???

Where’s Nonggor??!

It seems Nonggor was pushed out to make room for Phrancis (who was only selected in the poorly performing QLD II side and based on his performance at Nationals in July, was not selected for Aust or BaBa's side).

Wondering if any of the players (i.e. Nonggor,) were spoken to as to why they were booted out of the side after the NZ and Tonga games, by players who finished Year 12 last year and are now in Developing Academies, or players who were not deemed good enough after the Schoolboy selection process took place.

This whole thing is not making any sense. Where is the transparency in the selection process.
