QLD GPS Rugby 2018

Does anyone have any details on the general weight "limits" proposed by Rugby Australia for Under 13-15 (subject to independent assessment etc)?

Thanks

Just had a bit of a look at the guidelines, in every age group the difference between the minimum weight to the maximum weight is over double. Not sure if they are really going to achieve what they set out to do.

Also have to be outside BOTH height and weight parameters for testing to be mandatory, if you are only outside one parameter testing is voluntary. Initial screening is off the weight and height you offer up when registering your kid in club rugby , not sure what the school stance is going to be. Think it is a step in the right direction though , hopefully will reduce the incidence of kids not developing genuine skill due to them being bigger than everyone else is often enough to dominate in the younger age groups. Plus the effect on game strategy and team development , hopefully less "just pass it to the big kid"!

In the spirit of cricket season, I've thrown together a list of current cricketers to emerge from the GPS in recent years.

Not a bad batting lineup! Chris Lynn hit six 6s onto Moggil Road against BBC in his senior year, prompting the school to shift the oval from 2008 onwards.

1. Matt Renshaw (BGS 2013)
2. Joe Burns (NC 2006)
3. Shane Watson (IGS 1998)
4. Chris Lynn (NC 2007)
5. Ben Dunk (BGS 2005)
6. Ben Cutting (BGS 2004)
7. Jimmy Peirson (wk) (BSHS 2009)
8. Nathan Reardon (IGS 2001)
9. Michael Neser (TSS 2007)
10. Billy Stanlake (TSS 2011)
11. Mitch Swepson (NC 2010)

Add
12. Martin Love and Wade Seccombe and Sandy? (TGS) Also Jason Little (TGS) was an excellent schoolboy cricketer and I think played Qld Schoolboys. He also won the GPS Open High Jump.

Brisbane High and TSS both played Westlake boys high (NZ)
1st game: BSHS won by 2 points. Team looked really strong, not as many superstars as last year but they have a lot of good players throughout the park. Westlakes had a huge front row but BSHS really put it to them and dominated them.
2nd Game: TSS lost by approx 30. Didn't get to watch this game. but the result was a real suprise.

Few schools holding internal trials as well getting warmed up for the first of the GPS selection trials at TSS on the 19th of May.
All schools at TSS as in previous years, with the second trial on the 2nd June being split between club venues.

Only 2 GPS teams being selected this year, will make for some interesting selection room discussions, particularly when you consider the number of boys who have made Qld 1 or 2 ( and even the odd Aust schools' rep ) over the past few years from GPS 3 !

From memory around 6 players from GPS 3 team last year made Qld teams or Combined States.
