If it's a genuine question then the answer is a long one. They are extremely professional and don't accept anything below their very high standards. They base a lot of what they do on a whole of country approach sharing a lot of information amongst all their coaches and players. what you see in a game is the product of hundreds of hours and often years of work developing players and support systems. They are as far from the old fashioned way of playing rugby as you could get. They plan almost every detail for months before every game and rarely run the same thing twice. I've seen them flag a wallaby player was being weak on the left foot and had forward runners switch to his inside shoulder to exploit it, I've seen them measure their own players fitness down to the tiniest detail and pull them each week exactly when they hit the threshold. The organisation and planning is unebelievable.

I was pretty dissapointed in the BSHS school today, the jibe that there was only 6 supporters there for the premiership is harsh but pretty close to true as well. TSS away from home showed a lot of support.

The outcome could have gone either way especially with some really odd referee calls at the ground (maybe it was clearer on the video). I thought BSHS had blown it with bad passes and poor defence, but to kee their cool and get it in the forwards was smart and got the bacon.

All in all not a great game of rugby, but hey, we won!

Downlands have just posted up their season highlights videos.

I remember being super impressed by their props and 10 in the Queensland Trials, and watching the tape I can see a lot of GPS First XV players running around against them - and they're more than holding their own in these clips.

Couldn't be prouder of those Terrace boys. I know we didn't win the premiership but to beat Nudgee in the final round of the season must feel amazing for them. Well done to State high on the premiership and Nudgee/TSS on giving it their best as well. What a season of GPS rugby!

All said and done, that was a thrilling season, going right down to the wire at Fursden Park. Can't recall such a good season for years and THANK YOU to Double Take live for their fabulous TV coverage.

The last ten minutes of that BSHS and TSS game were super-intense and State High proved their right to the title with the ability to close out tight big games (NC, BBC and TSS today). Across all the games, their pack proved to be the one that best handled the "wet work" and muscle up. Well done chaps!

Cheers to the Nudgee and GT lads for turning on a fabulous game in appalling conditions. Well reffed game too. Credit has to be given to GT for rising out of the swamp to become a leading rugby school again - just have to beware of that little trip up the range. Also to NC - great to see some smaller teams out perform some of the bigger teams.

TSS were formidable but never really seemed to ignite at the very top. Some great future talent in that team.

My player of the year was the talented Len Ikatu from BBC, with Willie Malala a close second. Sorry to see the College boys miss out and suffer from a terrible run of injuries. What would have happened if they were all fit?

Well done to BSHS on their big win today. The premiership match can be a banana skin, and there's no such thing as an easy match against Southport in this day and age. Great effort!

Wilso was brilliant, but i thought Nasser and Eadie were pretty brilliant as well. Great crowd considering the conditions. Great GPS season overall and it was a great way to finish it.

I agree, All played very well, Nasser very unlucky to miss out on Australian Schoolboys selection

And also, looking back in this thread, I note some interest in discussing player development in the schoolboy system.

My first observation is that I'd be intrigued to see how the ARU can align the schools' interests with its own; as has already been pointed out, the schools' core business is not rugby football.

If there is any move to include more matches against non-GPS schools, we need to forget about 1st XV level to start with, and focus on younger age groups. I say this noting that the old primary school CIC has been broken up, so any such proposal would be running against the grain. Also, I'm not so sure that any school would feel the need to extend rugby season for the altruistic purpose of aiding the development of other schools outside the association. I don't say that out of cynicism or criticism, I think it's quite a reasonable stance for a school administration (or bloc of schools) to take. It's just what the ARU are up against.

Not in an effort to compare AIC and GPS in any way but what an exciting year of schoolboy rugby in general.

Both comps had a team that secured the premiership (albeit just) coming into the last round and both effective grand finals to see if they could be shared 3 ways. In both matches (Padua v St Peters & BSHS v TSS) the top team had been down in the closing stages of the game and both (State High & the Franciscans) were able to find something else in the dying moments to claim a solo win in thrillers.

Definitely one of the closest years for both GPS and AIC which has been great entertainment. Keep it coming.

Honestly, blame the rain. All ways hard to play
in the wet especially the pressure of a gps title. BSHS supporters were their but I was when the ref called the game off for 30 minutes when we lost our supporters

Well done to Terrace today in the slugfest at Tennyson, NC maybe should have been up by more in the first half however Terrace's work at the breakdown worn NC down in the end and scored a well deserved win.

NC had strong results in the other main games, 16A strong win to NC with this team finally having their strongest side on the paddock in the last two games, they have a number of players that will be integral to the First XV next year, the big front rower who scored a great individual try, Simon the big second rower, a number of the speedy backs, they looked good today.

U15's NC kept their undefeated season in tact, not their best game however they were too strong for a gallant Terrace side. NC and TSS forward packs are definitely the best in this year, BBC backline definitely No 1, Terrace have slipped down the tree, they struggled against the physicality of NC forward pack today and even went uncontested in scrums in second half which is dissapointing at this level of rugby, maybe Immersion played a part here.

U14's Terrace way too strong, too big and fast out wide.

U13's NC are definitely a surprise package here and had a strong win.

Big, big crowd out at Tennyson today, just a pity the rain came at exactly the wrong time, right at 2.15pm. Any idea of who won the St Joseph's cup?

Great cross section of schools, interestingly Churchie had a poor year other than the 16A's where they finished a close second. Looking at the results of of TSS, makes interesting reading. Poor results from U11-U14, clearly one of the strongest U15 up, their recruitment policy clearly targets the older years with strong results although they haven't been able to achieve the ultimate prize in a number of years, albiet very close.
